Im pretty sure Pep wont feck around when it comes to the CL, City to go through.
He nearly got *bleep* over last year though. ( If not for Evra's stupidity )
Let's not forget the 2nd leg for them is away from home. So they have to produce a comprehensive home performance just to be safe and I just don't see how Monaco are going to let in 3-4 goals. For me it's going to be a close tie.

Re: UCL Last 16: Manchester City vs AS Monaco
Why are Monaco being so ridiculously overrated all of a sudden?
They're merely 2nd in Ligue 1 behind a Nice team who finished dead last in their Europa League group, involving Schalke, Salzburg and Krasnodar.
They won their group only due to Leverkusen's poor finishing in various games, and got smashed by Bayer in the end.
We're talking about a Bayer which is practically in shambles and highly unstable.
Last year too, they got dumped in quali by *bleep* VALENCIA lmao.
Absolutely laughable case of hipsterdom to claim it's anywhere near an even tie, and some clowns are actually claiming they are favourites lmao.
People lose all sense of proportion when it comes to Pep.

Why are City being so ridiculously overrated all of a sudden?
They're merely 4th in EPL behind a Liverpool team who didn't even qualify for Europa League, in a season dominated by Leicester, Arsenal and Spurs.
They qualified second in their group, only got two points from Celtic, and got smashed by Barca in the end.
We're talking about a Celtic which is managed by Rodgers and conceded 16 goals.
Last year too, they drew on points with *bleep* VAN GAAL'S UNITED lmao.
Absolutely laughable case of hipsterdom to claim it's anything but an even tie, and some clowns are actually claiming there is a clear favourite lmao.

Take it to the betting thread then. Monaco will win in France.
No team will be smashing through this, it will a tough tie.

btw their home record is 41-9.
That includes wins against Fernebahce, PSG, Villarreal, CSKA, Spurs. They haven't played Lyon and Nice yet.

Re: UCL Last 16: Manchester City vs AS Monaco
Man City will lose both matches to Monaco, the players are suited to a different type of game than Pep is trying to get them to play. And, the players are not world beaters anyway.
Plus they have an error prone goalie which is good for at least a goal for Monaco over 2 matches.

I think Monaco can make it tough but City should go through comfortably.

Bump.... Worried about this match since Jesus injury.
Sane and Sterling in prime form though. Hopefully Kolarov doesn't play as a fullback.
Anyone know Monaco's most likely lineup. Heard their right-back Djibril Sidibé is injured, Sane going to abuse that side

I guess this match maybe too much for Mbappe to get the start?

I personally think he's ready, but Jardim seems to prefer Germain for now.
He did the same a couple of years ago when he kept starting the older Dirar over Bernardo Silva even though the latter was clearly the superior player.

Experience over youth usually helps but I too would like to Mbappe in this match. Actually caught some Monaco games since the start of the year which he happen to play in. He looks like a real gem. Also, Bernado Silva is bae.

Re: UCL Last 16: Manchester City vs AS Monaco
City need to win the first leg by 2 goals at least, I'd go as far as saying 3-4. Monaco are a team that set up to torment possession base teams and considering Pep away record, a draw at Etihad or narrow win, I'd be on the edge of my seat heading into the 2nd leg.

It will be Monaco. Pep will Wenger it, get caught in defensive mistakes and pay the price. Jardim > Pep

If City play a highline and Pep fails to react letting Monaco go through, then he should just retire and become a fulltime pundit. That would be the 3rd season in a row he would've made the same mistake and if he can't rectify it now he probably never will

These cats trying to hype up Monaco so when City win it will look like Pep has over achieved. These Guardiola fanboys are relentless! City should be odds on favourites against those bums that play in a subpar league.

Re: UCL Last 16: Manchester City vs AS Monaco
Pep has always relied on strong home performances to progress in the knockouts. This tie would become really interesting if City fail to win comfortably or maybe even narrowly as i dont think Pep's been in a situation very often where he has had to protect a lead/chase a game in CL while playing away from home in the 2nd leg.

Re: UCL Last 16: Manchester City vs AS Monaco
City should lineup like this
Willy
Sagna - Stones - Ote - Kolarov
Yaya - Fernandinho
KdB - Silva - Sane
Sterling
or switch Sterling with KdB

No more excuses. Need to establish who is in which camp;
State your name and who you are backing to go through in this tie;
My name is Firenze and I think Monaco are going to win via squash match
5-2 aggregate

Don't see Guardiola bowing out this early.
2-0 City tomorrow.
2-1 Monaco in 2nd leg.
