The diverse habitats and climates of Red Dead Redemption 2 are home to around 200 species of animals, birds and fish, all of which behave and respond to their environment in a unique way. pic.twitter.com/asAB3yTRJB

I didn't think of much of this, then i read the first game only had 38 lol.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Yeah same, I saw that figure and thought "eh, other games probably advertise similarly but what will happen is a bunch of fish that we rarely see are inflating the figure, not to mention some birds or rodents that just scurry around and all look similar"
Thing is, I didn't realize that the original game had 38 and this one has around 200.
You could be inflating that figure with a lot of different species of fish or otherwise and it's still a staggering number.
Re: the elements of realism that could get tiresome...I think R* is careful of this. Way back when, when we heard about the camps and taking care of the gang we heard right away about how it's not completely necessary, but there are nice things or perks you'll get from it, or negative comments for ignoring the gang.
I don't see why any of these other things would be different. I'm sure R* is careful not to make these things too cumbersome, while also valuing the kind of depth, realism and immersion they add. The fact that they made something like the gang dynamic, which is essential to the game, not completely obligatory for the player compels me to believe that these smaller parts of the game should be constructed similarly.
I'm all for it personally.
Regardless, it's all baseless speculation as to how it will work out until we get more info or play the game.
I think this teasing of wildlife means a gameplay part two trailer this week.

Mole read that article on the 75 amazing details of RDR2 on IGN I think.
Let's admit this one will for sure surpass its predecessor.
Rockstar painting this game with the conviction of a pro now after the success of GTA V and you can see the confidence brimming in their team.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
The level of depth they seem to be going to seems incredible
Just today talking about keeping track of wind to make sure you're downwind so as to not alert animals of your presence.
Usually would brush this off but honestly Rockstar is the kind of developer I trust to actually pull through with this level of detail and depth. Previews being written seem only to confirm this feeling.

I haven't read it yet but i will do, i thought i read everything but obviously not.
It's really exciting because Rockstar haven't really reinvented their open world formula for a long time. Not to say they ever got lazy or anything, they just focused on other things since San Andreas/Vice City.

It won't be that, PS4 needs a certain amount left over to install.
It will be closer to the 60 range.

The disc reader on my PS4 Pro has been acting up since the start of the year, so it looks like I'll have to delete a few games in order to make space for RDD2 digital edition. It's fine

I didn't expect it to be this detailed, R* is going all out with realism. You have eat regularly or else Arthur will get fatigued, and if you eat too much he gets fat If guns get dirty they need to be cleaned or their stats decrease, if Arthur gets dirty characters comment on that and you need to take a bath, horse customization on horse hair, saddles name, you have to wear thicker clothing in cold areas and less in warm areas, every NPC can be interacted with and have conversations, and theres a hell lot more.

Makes you wonder if in a couple decades time these open world games might be comparable to real life with every tiny little detail being accounted for.
Can't wait for the era of press X to scratch your left ass cheek and tap L1 to make your bed.
Hyped for this game though. Will this be a GL approved game where we jump on multiplayer at least semi regularly

Happy it's so early in the morning. Gonna wake up and see this shit, no waiting around.
Really weird time to make the announcement though. But honestly R* marketing approach so far I feel has been somewhat bizarre. Then again, I'm not knowledgeable in marketing or marketing of videogames, so what do I know.

Is there any doubt that this will be the game of the year? I thought God of War was amazing but this destroys it.

If it reaches expectations and the systems Rockstar has in place fulfill their potential then yes it will.
I don't believe any of us will know the answer to those questions till we play it.

While I agree I would like them to release smaller titles alongside GTA or Red Dead mega franchises.
I would love a new Bully or Max Payne for example. Obviously quality is the most important thing but I think there's a healthy middle ground between one game a generation and annualised bullshit.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Yeah you gotta consider how many PlayStation's you have left in you so hopefully they can release at least a GTA and rdr every generation. Quality over quantity I agree but there's a limit.
