Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I'm gonna refuse to watch or read anything RDR 2 related until it is released for PC.
Oh hell I watched it and ordered a PS4 Pro straight away. FML.

BTW at the beginning of the trailer there's a little kid in the world.
Surely he and others like him can't be interacted with though lol?

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Trailers for Rockstar games don't do the games justice.
The first RDR was a beautifully crafted open-world filled with memorable characters and a deep immersive storyline. You can probably capture parts of the world in a short trailer but not the fantastic writing which, imho, sets Rockstar apart from the rest.
It looks gorgeous, the music is going to be amazing and the writing and the story will hopefully follow suit Rockstar's high standards. There was a mention of 'crew' members which you build relationships with and I thought that was quite a Mass Effect/Bioware thing - which I love.
They mentioned hunting and camps and domesticating horses and so forth, I just hope grinding doesn't come with them.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Especially this one, they are talking about depth, how interactive the world is etc etc.
Pretty impossible to explain that in a trailer IMO, it's something you can only really know through playing the game.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
@dany Rockstar has already stated that interaction with the camp isn't necedsary in the grinding sense. If you do go out hunting and hang out with the lads, there will be rewards and things to do, but you can choose not to. The camp will apparently not be quite as happy with you if you choose to ignore them and not contribute, but it shouldn't, apparently, negatively affect you much more beyond that.
Can't wait to get back home and watch the trailer again, and probably a third time

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
The depth looks amazing, and we expect that from RDR 2 after what RDR gave us. Surely, if there is one company that can deliver on that front, it's Rockstar. I have to say though, I think with respect to depth, a decent amount will hinge on the "interaction" feature that they seem to be pushing
With any other company I think this is kind of a gimmicky thing...a couple buttons you can press and you'll get relatively generic responses with different NPC's depending on the scenario, and that's it.
To be sure, I expect that from a lot of the dialogue options. But with Rockstar I do have faith they've fleshed it out to the point where quite a lot of interactions aren't generic whatsoever. Some may lead to new storylines, or as they say, friendships or enemies, and I expect entirely unique lines for each NPC tbh
Rockstar is good enough to pull it off where I think this can be a feature that really goes beyond what kind of interactions we're usually able to have with the world (in a way that's more organic than, say, what you get in The Elder Scrolls). The fact they're pushing it so much means that they must have put immense work into it, and I'm really excited for that.
Can't wait to get to know the different members of the gang and go on adventures with them, listen to people tell stories, and have a place I can call home when I've come back from my own adventures with just the horse and I.
The fist fighting mechanics look soooo much better than RDR and that's exciting. On the combat side, I'd like to see a bit more and a bit more gun play in the next trailer. Fishing is in ffs, hunting looks incredible, the game itself looks absolutely stunning
Trailer couldn't have been any better. So hyped we'll get at least one more too. Can't wait for this game ffs, need October here already -.-

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
About the fighting i thought it looked quite clumsy tbh.
I didn't expect it to look great though, i'm more interested to how the movement on shooting feels.
In Red Dead shooting felt good IMO but Marston's movement felt very clumsy. We'll see if that part has improved, i'd love it if Arthur moved really smoothly to go with the shooting.
But it's a very minor issue compared to everything else that looks amazing.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Disagree, maybe fighting is better in other games but since I haven't been in gaming, the fist fighting looks so much better than it does in GTAV or RDR where it's extremely clumsy and rigid in terms of options.
Not that it's the most important thing, I'm not gonna be fist fighting all too often, but it's something I'll look forward to.

Doesn't look much different to me lol, when they said it's changed drastically i was like what has lol.
That's fine, i'm not going out of my way to box with people but i really don't see much of a difference.

Previews are out.
Save to say he's excited
There's a whole thread on his twitter page which goes into further detail.
A few weeks ago I went hands on with Red Dead Redemption 2 at @RockstarGames for about 90 minutes. The pioneers of open world gaming have taken a giant leap forward and crafted what I would now call a living or responsive world game. pic.twitter.com/xC75dq8D9G

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Still a bit shameful I reckon but at the same time, who am I to judge when I've done the same thing?
Previews make this seem like an easy GOTY choice (we already knew this though, didn't we?).
It sounds absolutely incredible. Whenever I think my hype can't get higher, it gets higher. I really like the customization and RPG elements (can I call it that?) that are being added. Immersion is really what it seems RDR2 is going for and Rockstar seem really focused on that. Brilliant, that's EXACTLY what I wanted from RDR2 and honestly that's exactly what you want from a western themed game.
I love it.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
All previews are raving about it lol.
I didn't expect it to be this detailed, R* is going all out with realism. You have eat regularly or else Arthur will get fatigued, and if you eat too much he gets fat If guns get dirty they need to be cleaned or their stats decrease, if Arthur gets dirty characters comment on that and you need to take a bath, horse customization on horse hair, saddles name, you have to wear thicker clothing in cold areas and less in warm areas, every NPC can be interacted with and have conversations, and theres a hell lot more.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Not sure how these The Sims like features are good things.
Anything that doesn't add depth to the game and becomes chores/grind is unwelcome because when the novelty of it vanishes (oh and I bet it vanishes very early) it just becomes very tedious to have to eat/clean/take a bath etc.
I said the same about Witcher 3's armour repair which didn't add any depth to the game at all but RDR2's seems like a whole new level.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
The only thing that seems like a chore in what M99 wrote and the link is taking a bath lol.
And we don't know how simple it is, it might be just like jump in a lake or something.
No point in reacting to it until we know exactly how the systems work.
