Official Borussia Dortmund thread
There was talk about Dortmund downgrading themselves hugely but i personally, still dont see much defects in this team. Perhaps the gap left by Hummels is the only area where they might struggle to fill initially.
They've upgraded on the LB position. They still have great options on the wings and with Schurrle , they'd be looking add a bit more depth. And now, with the prodigal son returning home, Dortmund's attacking arsenal looks a lot more attractive than it initially did, there's some serious depth now. People were talking about Mkhi being a big loss but as far as i know, he was absolutely dogshite the season before Tuchel arrived, perhaps one of Dortmund's worst buys. Now if a sulking, underperforming Mkhi can be totally transformed, why cant Gotze too ?! Not to mention they got that exciting Turkish kid for absolute peanuts. Intially there might be a little struggle for new buys to adjust, but i think they'll do just absolutely fine.
Any idea if they're looking to replace Crockdogan ? Or they're happy with Rode, Sahin and Weigl ?

Re: Official Borussia Dortmund thread
I think I mentioned that before - Dortmund's scouting is amazing - they always manage to unearth surprising gems. That's why I'm actually never really worried about them.
As for Ilkay Gündogan - well, he was injured more often than not, so they already coped nicely without him. I don't think they will need a direct replacement. BTW, they have Gonzalo Castro in CM, too.

Oh, totally forgot Castro. You're right. All the creativity perhaps will be centered around Gotze now. I'm glad chubby boy moved back to Dortmund.

There's Matthias Ginter when he's back from injury, and they just bought Marc Bartra from Barca.

That's the one they haven't replaced. Bartra is nowhere near the same quality.
Gündogan has practically left BVB already 3 seasons ago. They have a young Spaniard (Merido or something), Rode, and Castro to fill in but I assume they'll get someone else still at some point.
I could see Tielemans joining them.
In attack, they've lost Mkhi but added Dembele, Götze, and Mor.

Re: Official Borussia Dortmund thread
Might be a fun season afterall.
Thought we'd get a rough ride after Mkhi, Hummels and Crockdogan.
Anyway, BVB is at least doing better than AW is. Some solace there.

lol they're not going to do anything just like last season. They are not going to win the league because Buyern is too good, They are not going finish lower than 2nd because the rest of the Bundesliga is garbage.
Same story in Europe.

Been a BVB fan since the days when I lived near Ruhrgebiet a few years back. I have seen BVB live in a stadium more often than Arsenal. #Herzblut
I didn't change my 'Club Supported' to BVB for nothing. :/

Re: Official Borussia Dortmund thread
They will win the title with this team imo, they look stacked.
Aubameyang
Reus-Gotze-Schurrle/Dembele
Weigl - whoever
although, it's a bit of a change in style for Tuchel who mostly played a 41212 lat season.
cant trust carlo to win the title

I'd agree Nick if the defense didn't look like it's going to suck lol.

Re: Official Borussia Dortmund thread
keeping in mind we are talking about the bundesliga, then i go with overwhelming offense and defense that still looks way above the rest of the league

Re: Official Borussia Dortmund thread
We saw how that worked in the past for Dortmund though, i wouldn't be surprised to see them dominate a game not score and suddenly get hit on the break.

Re: Official Borussia Dortmund thread
Let's see:
Hummels replaced by Bartra - a definite downgrade
Gündogan replaced by Rode - a definite downgrade
Mkhitaryan replaced by Dembele - a downgrade but an acceptable one
Kagawa replaced by Götze - a definite upgrade
Durm replaced by Guerrero - a definite upgrade
If we look overall, they've strengthened their attack (if Götze/Dembele are a success), but weakened their midfield and defence by replacing Hummels/Gündogan with Bartra/Rode. Bürki is also still Dortmund's first choice GK which is not acceptable.
Their attack will ensure a place in the Bundesliga top 4 but the expectations are low for everything else.

Re: Official Borussia Dortmund thread
They have done very well. The only piece missing now to make their squad perfect is a ball carrier in CM. Castro isn't really one and you could see the difference in their play when Gundogan was fit. I can see him playing Gotze of Kagawa in that role. Kagawa was already playing sort of an #8.5 last year. If they start strong I think they can win the league tbh or at least push Bayern pretty far.

Let's not go mad, their defense is awful for a side whose squad is apparently perfect lol.
I don't think they are a better team tbh and finishing 2nd would be a good season.

Bayern have Ancelotti though who is a known bottler in leagues. How will they improve their defence exactly? It's a collective thing and they have a season under their belt now. Bartra should be able to adapt quite quickly.

You are acting like Fartra is anything but turd lol, besides they haven't had a collectively good defense for about 4 years. They obviously need better players back there and they don't have them, not in the slightest.

Re: Official Borussia Dortmund thread
Dortmund already had a crap defence even with Hummels at the heart of the defence, I doubt it's going to improve with Fartra.
