Lewandowski is better at holding up the ball with his back to goal and bring his teammates into play and is probably a better passer but not by much, but he doesn't have the ability to turn defenders, which is what separates good strikers from the cream of the crop. He is worse at finishing, Scheva was a better header of the ball and faster. Scheva was a level above him and that's not saying Lewa is bad. Scheva also had better movement and ball control. Also when running at defenders Scheva was much better, Lewa really slows down because he doesn't have the dexterity or the burst of pace to carry the ball forward.

Lewandowski - Benzema is a valid comparison.

Benzema had almost every season more less the same number of goals than Shevchenko at his best in Milan (and gives much more assists). And he was hardly used as an out-and-out striker while playing as a 3rd fiddle behind the likes of CR7/Bale.

Lewandowski is objectively a far superior out-and-out striker than Sheva ever was.
