Re: Berlusconi finally sells AC Milan
There will also be some healthy competition between the two Chinese owner groups (Inter and AC) which will probably increase the incentive to spend.

Re: Berlusconi finally sells AC Milan
We don't know yet how legit these new owners are. The whole thing has been sketchy. We'll see what they do in the summer.
Some of their players pending renewals mentioned before how its all on hold until the new owners come in, because no one knows what to expect.
This the opening statement of the new owner

This the opening statement of the new owner
Football-Italia wrote:New Milan owner Yonghong Li revealed a 'great responsibility' in living up to fan's expectations of 'returning to the top in Europe'.
The Chinese investor spoke to the Press at Casa Milan this morning.
"To all those present, ladies and gentlemen, friends and fans of AC Milan, good morning," he told reporters that were present.
"For all lovers of Milan, today is an important day: Rossoneri Sport Investment Lux have completed the purchase of the shares in Milan.
"This glorious club now begins a new chapter: the success of this transaction has been possible thanks to the love of Milan fans, but especially thanks to [Silvio] Berlusconi and Fininvest for the confidence placed in us.
"Milan are a top club worldwide, with 118 years of glorious history. In the last 30 years Milan have achieved passionate successes: eight league titles, five European Cups and seven Italian Super Cups.
"All the stars that were once at this club together with its successes mean that every fan expects the return of the club to the top of Europe.
"This means that behind us we have a great responsibility, as well as the expectations of Milan as a club.
"The board is composed of professionals of the football and the financial sector. We are a stable team with high efficiency.
"We want to ensure that every professional is dedicated to their role.
"We have delegated to the task of developing a Milan for the future to Marco Fassone, we believe that he is the best candidate to be the next CEO.
"We believe in him, in his leadership of Milan, that under his management we will get better results, and become competitive on the world stage.
"Our goal is to ensure that all the fans of the world can continue to love Milan even more. Forza Milan!"

Re: Berlusconi finally sells AC Milan
In related news, the Milan derby tomorrow will be played at 12:30. The best time for asian audiences to also watch the game. Particularly since now both clubs have chinese owners.
There is a record number of viewers (862m) projected for this game (in comparison to previous derbys), and also a record 4m per club in gate receipts.

Not sure how i feel about this acquisition, could easily see it not work out for us. Look at Valencia, Inter, Wolves, Cardiff etc. Not holding my breath for anything yet, Asian investors are ambiguous, wish we had Arabs instead tbh

Re: Berlusconi finally sells AC Milan
Berlusconi had a legendary run, he retires as the most winning president in football (or something like that, they kept saying it). He took Milan from the gutter and got them back on top of the world with 5 CLs, a ton of Serie A's and many more titles.
By now though, he had to go. Milan needed someone new.

You can say that about any owner ever, there's no steadfast rule that one will be great and one will be bad.
You should try to be positive imo

Re: Berlusconi finally sells AC Milan
Might be the best DM article I've ever read. This whole era of football in the 90's made me gradually become a football fan and not just a Chelsea fan. Became a full time football fan after Korea/Japan. Started watching a lot more than just Chelsea games. I wish I was old enough to remember the Gullit/Rijkaard Milan teams vividly. Good stuff.

That is just about right. I would have given Costacurta a shout but Baresi-Nesta is better imo. What a team!
Imo, EA should let us select legendary teams on FIFA from different eras the way 2K lets you select them on NBA.

I'm surprised ES didn't respond to this by posting an 11 with Niang in it.

Re: Berlusconi finally sells AC Milan
They are on the verge of being sold again. Turns out those Chinese investors were frauds
Sky Sport Italia claim Rocco Commisso could agree a Milan takeover tomorrow, with Yonghong Li retaining 15-20 per cent of the stocks.
The US billionaire and New York Cosmos owner has made an offer to buy the club for €500m plus a guarantee to cover the €380m debt to hedge fund Elliott Management.
He would not be buying up 100 per cent of the club, at least not initially, with Yonghong Li retaining 15-20 per cent.
It’s reported these negotiations have been going on for 40-45 days already, largely in secret, while the Rossoneri battled UEFA and a Financial Fair Play punishment.
The first step in the takeover would see Commisso pay back the €32m that Elliott Management provided this week to increase the capital, as Yonghong Li missed his deadline.
Some reports suggest the deal could be done today, but most believe from tomorrow onwards is more realistic.

Was a football player himself? Born in Italy?
I take it back. Better owner than Milan could hope for.
