I don't think, and I could be wrong here, that he was flipping the bird. It seems to me that he was simply stretching his fingers in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Even if we were to assume that he was in fact being disrespectful to the national anthem, why would he do it right in front of the camera for the whole world to see? Making a career-ending move like that and providing evidence for it? No come on, even Piqué isn't that stupid.
