Dani Alves #23
Gianluca Di Marzio@DiMarzio
Medicals for @DaniAlvesD2 with @juventusfc next monday @SkySport @SkySportsNewsHQ
Marotta confirmed it as well in his latest interview. Pretty excited about this signing tbh. Still could give us a lot even at his age.

Re: Dani Alves #23
I think the topic about if a player is too old , or too young is a little tricky
because for example we have MESSI , he was BORN READY he was never too young and you cannot tell today he is too old because his effectiveness
in football that is what you want effectiveness to score goals, assists to initiate the attack you don't care if a player is 10 years old or 100 years old if he is productive
but most of the times a 32 years old player is too old and can easy be dominated from fresh legs out there
however it is SERIE A which makes things even more tricky because its too much of tactical game and expertise is important
its a topic that you can discuss years about it but the best to say is you want a mix of experienced and fresh players
I believe DANI ALVES will be productive with his expertise and long balls and his age will not be a problem because he will be mixed with fresh players like DYBALA, PJANIC, BONUCI and more

On point.
I think Lichtsteiner still has a role in the club (if decides to stay).

I don't expect him to play the way he did at Barcelona
I expect more expertise less running

The difference this time is that you're not getting a reject past their prime, you're getting someone who was asked by Barça to stay but chose to leave.
So, yes, he won't play for you like prime Guardiola's Alves, but you'll certainly have two good years from him. He'll help you with rotation and depth as well as experience. You're getting a winner, a player who won everything on a club level, and you really need that mentality to stay competitive and hungry for silverware.
Terrific piece of business if you ask me.

I didn't mean that. I'm sorry if I offended you.
What I meant was, usually, players leave Barça or Madrid only when they're no longer wanted (of course there are a few exceptions to this rule). This time around, it's different. Alves still has a few years of elite football left in him and even though Barça wanted him to stay, he chose to leave.

Re: Dani Alves #23
you didnt offend, I was just trying to think of who you could mean.
The old players we've gotten recently have been huge successes. Pirlo, Tevez and Evra. Pirlo had a rebirth in form that doesnt need to be explained, Tevez played the best season of his career and Evra left United on his own terms.

For me, it ain't an exaggeration to say that he's been our best player in the Champions league this season. Most chances created , more than any other player in the CL too I believe.
Stepped up massively in big games and just when people thought he won't be of much use to us after his long injury spell, he proved so many of them wrong.
I don't like to gloss over his performances in Serie A as that's largely insignificant to me but god willing we win CL and in my opinion, Dani would've turned out to be Beppe's most significant signing. CL is what we're craving for and Dani Alves is one of the big reasons apart from other reasons why I am quietly confident about the final.

As amazing as he was in the semis, there is no way he is Beppe's most significant signing. Being great for like 7 games while ok for most others and terrible for half of them cannot compare to Pjanic's and Higuain's seasons.
Higuain has been beasting from game 1 and is breaking records for us.
Pjanic gave results even while he was adapting and then became a key player in every game.

Re: Dani Alves #23
I am only talking in terms of the CL not across all competitions.
I think a player like Dani Alves has given that extra edge for us in Europe. In that respect, I would consider him one of the best signings if we go on to win the trophy.

Oh in CL yes. I can see that. Everyone has been great but Alves takes it further from the new signings.

“Dani Alves is an idiot” – Diego Maradona hits back at Juventus right-back
Diego Maradona has slammed Dani Alves, describing the Juventus defender as an “idiot” after the Brazilian criticised the legendary Argentinian for his “Hand of God” goal.
Maradona’s retort to Alves comes after the right-back indicated that he could not compare Lionel Messi to his Argentinian counterpart due to the former Napoli forward’s infamous unseen handball in 1986.
The defender would go on to suggest that Maradona could not be a hero to youngsters because of this moment.
Alves told Brazilian TV Channel Canais Esporte Interativo: “You want to compare Messi to Maradona? You can’t compare them.
“I would not be proud to say that I won a World Cup with a ‘Hand of God.’ I wouldn’t be able to tell my son that I won a World Cup like this with the whole world talking about it.
“The ‘Hand of God’ tricked us, you have to take this firm position. A sportsman like this can’t be an example for youngsters.”
However Maradona has taken exception to Alves’ comments and has attacked the 34-year-old, criticising the Brazilian’s ability to pass the ball and saying he isn’t very good at right-back.
The former Argentina coach told TyC Sports: “Dani Alves is an idiot. He makes 28 passes and only gets four right. As a ‘4’ [right-back], Cafu and Maicon were good. Dani Alves? Poor thing.
“He speaks because he plays in a position on the pitch where football is not played. They [right-backs] touch the ball three times and make eight fouls per game.”
