Leicester gotta be up there with my 59 game winning streak on Fifa Ultimate Team 11, Drogba was a monster.

Re: Biggest achievement in football history?
In recent memory, it is though seeing a post by Sports that reminded me Hellas Verona won a Serie A title when the league was an incredible force so that should be taken into consideration.
Still, a really remarkable feat that I can't help but keep praising.

Re: Biggest achievement in football history?
Just as cool a feat as Kaiserslautern winning the Bundesliga as newly promoted side in 1998 or Greece winning Euro 2004

Re: Biggest achievement in football history?
What makes Leicester's title better than pre-21th century fairytales, imo, is that they've done it in a time when the amount of cash in football has exploded and made the richest clubs more dominant than ever, almost untouchable.

Easily
They did it at a time when leagues are being smothered by sugar daddies and monstrous juggernauts. They dared to look uncle Fritz square in the monocle and said "Nein!"

Re: Biggest achievement in football history?
no
One of the better ones, sure. But Helas Verona had a bigger achievement in my eyes in the 80s in Serie A.
Those are the to two clubwise for me in terms of league.

Re: Biggest achievement in football history?
Lets see if Leicester can do what Nottingham Forest did and win back to back CLs after this.
Forest got promoted to first division, won the league and THEN win two European Cups the next two seasons.

Re: Biggest achievement in football history?
Back in the day it was more of a level field imo. Football wasn't all about money. Teams like Verona, Nottingham Forest etc is just not as impressive as what Leicester have done in this day and age football is a business and is dominated by sugar daddy clubs.

Re: Biggest achievement in football history?
This is greatest in PL era. Its highly debatable if its greatest in PL history.
Putting Verona's win in perspective, those were the days when Platini and Maradona was playing in Serie A. It was not a level field at all, teams with most money tended to dominate like nowadays too.

Re: Biggest achievement in football history?
Yeah true... Verona weren't that bad. They tended to be in top 10-15 in Serie A. That league was murder though. Easily the best in Europe in the 80s and definitely the 90s going into the 00s. And they narrowly avoided relegation a couple of times.
Verona winning was more like Newcastle taking EPL today.
So in terms of upset, sure. Leicester.

Don't call me James wrote:Back in the day it was more of a level field imo. Football wasn't all about money. Teams like Verona, Nottingham Forest etc is just not as impressive as what Leicester have done in this day and age football is a business and is dominated by sugar daddy clubs.
How is it not impressive? Verona won a Serie A title during its greatest period. Nottingham Forrest won 2 European titles where the great Liverpool, Bayern, Borussia Mönchengladbach sides were very much prevalent. Come on McAgger, you know that is worthy of GL hype.

Re: Biggest achievement in football history?
Why would it be? Sure there is more money involved nowadays but today just as 30 years ago there's a limited group of great and good players who are mostly split among top and semi-top clubs and a newly promoted club like Kaiserslautern certainly didn't have such players.
If we just dismiss everything that happened more than 10 years ago because there's more money involved today what good is it even to call it the "biggest achievement in football history"?
It's up there for me but it's not the stand out.

Re: Biggest achievement in football history?
Definitely.
Hellas Verona were a surprise, they were an underdog , but they had WC players like Elkjaer and Briegel.
Hellas got 4th place in '83, and it got 2 Coppa Italia finals in a row then
Comparable with this Sassuolo
Leicester had to fight for avoding the relegation .. and they were in Championship the prevous year
No contest imo

I remember Leeds doing something special in the early 90s too. Lens of course in 98.
