What happened to Oscar?
I do not watch Chelsea much, so I thought he was injured for much of the season. But he has actually played 38 matches so far. He has scored 8 times this season and with 4 assists.
So what is happening with Oscar? I see he is 24 ( ), what do you think of his progression as a player?
This is from the last thread about Oscar from August 2015:

The signs & flashes of brilliance have always been there but I feel this is the year he'll put it together & deliver consistent World Class 90 minute performances. Unlike Cesc, he should make it past December too considering he just had his first summer off since 2010.
Dribbling has drastically improved (more confidence?), spraying diagonals like Kroos, backheeling with ease like Totti in his prime, he's become a set piece specialist, can finally create & will score 20 goals this season.
EDIT: If Mourinho leaves him out of the team in another big game to park the bus at the Etihad I might commit.

He's only 24? Feels like he's been around for a long time.
He's a fraud but he's still young and can improve.

Also Oscar hasn't really adapted that great to PL his performances in the league have been average at best his best performances have come in Europe

Not sure where I saw it but it was a quote along the lines of "the most unimaginative #10"

typical superstar nowadays
stage by stage:
promising youngster > brilliant player > superb player > form decline > vanish on the radar > reappear again

Re: What happened to Oscar?
Another early bloomer. People expect it to happen too often that if a player is really good when he's 18, 19, 20... that they keep on majorly developing. Yet quite a lot of players will not progress that much after 20.

Re: What happened to Oscar?
When in his career has Oscar ever been a brilliant player though? He's never really had a period in his career where he put solid, consistently good games week in week out tbh. Unless he did and I missed it.
He has the talent but I think that he'll never be one of the best. He can be a good player and play for a top team but I don't see him ever being a standout player for a top team

Yes, first half of 2013-14 , he was Chelsea's best player. He also played well last season. He always seems to drop of at the latter part of the season, I blamed fatigue before. This season he joins Hazard, Costa, Matic and Fabregas on Chelsea players who have been severely disappointing. Next season of his career whether its at Chelsea or elsewhere will be the make or break on whether he is a fraud or not.
I believe in his talent. I can't help but blame Mourinho on sucking out the creativity in him. He almost turned him into a DM very much like Benzema. Hopefully he can rediscover the creativity from which he drew comparisons to Ozil when he first broke out.

He was always a fraud like his buddy Bernard. I just can't believe little Phil had to suffer ostracization because of this fraudulent little pos.

Re: What happened to Oscar?
He hasn't improved much since we bought him, he is very inconsistent and has suffered this season as the rest of our team has been poor.
However, he does make other players around him look better, and Fabregas, Hazard and Willian have benefited from that at various points throughout the last 2 seasons.
He could leave, depending on whether Conte wants him or not.

Re: What happened to Oscar?
As I see it his main attribute is relentless pressing, which is maybe what Mou requires from his AMs, but for that position you need more to excel. Very hard working but lacking in technical qualities.

Re: What happened to Oscar?
Whenever someone is dubbed "Brazil's next big thing" or "the next [insert Brazilian player here], they might as well retire, because they fall hilariously short of the mark. I remember United fans boasting that Anderson was going to be the next Ronaldinho
