I don't know if it's as much about race as it's about popularity and mainstream compatibility. Taylor Swift is much bigger than Kendrick, as pop is still a bigger genre than hiphop.

Taylor Swift is beginning to be the person with the most succes related to actual talent. She isn't really an elite singer, yet so popular. Don't know anyone other than kids and drunk girls who listens to her.

Definite snub, but why does anyone care? The grammy's are more trash than most awards shows (which generally are also trash).

It's always going to go to the most popular. I assume Beauty Behind the Madness was up for album of the year too? That probably would have won ahead of TPAB as well Laughing

That being said, I can listen to Taylor Swift every once in a while. Requires a certain, very specific mood where I throw out all my morals and musical taste, but it happens. I agree she does not have much talent whatsoever though.

Don't think Sufjan Stevens was up for a single award despite many many websites putting Carrie and Lowell as the second best album of the year after TPAB. Shows how trash the Grammy awards are. IMO, Carrie and Lowell was even better than TPAB.

K dot does not have big enough mass appeal to win the album of the year just yet. Pop music still speaks to a bigger crowd and is probably more influential in shaping the current trends I think.

TO put things into perspective, not even the media darling Eminem during his prime had won it. Marshall Mathers LP was definitely a worthy choice IMO. The only hiphop album that I can recall winning the album of the year was Outcast's Speakerboxx / Love below.
