Given the game and circumstances, it has to be up there.  There have been more beautiful goals.... but doing it in the second half of a clasico at the Camp Nou down 0-1?  That takes a lot of guts.  Most guys won't even try it because of the pressure and they don't want to get embarrassed if they miss.

The technique was great... but more than that, the mental toughness to try it and pull it off was more impressive. He fluffed a volley in the first half and he still went for this. Impressive.

I completely disagree BC.  In all those, the players have time to think gather and then go.  Not to mention this is a clasico.  To react, adjust your body on the deflection and execute an overhead is monstrously more difficult... especially in that tight a space.

I'm talking as a former player here.  Not a fan.

And yes this was a clasico, but a clasico with very little at stake. The only thing at play was a 12 point gap vs a 7 point gap.

nick & adit salty af, high pressure game and instinctive finishing, throw in some acrobatics = great goal, goal of the year? nah but it sure as hell ain't a easy finish... .

Which is the reason why i am electing this one for contender. It's not about the "prettyness" of the goal, it's the context+technique+execution+importance+level of the game here. Biggest game in world football between the two best teams in football if we look at recent history.

I've noticed that mostly Barcelona fans all over the internet are arguing that, "since nothing was at stake", Barcelona didn't take the game seriously, and thus they shouldn't be held accountable for this loss. "It didn't matter to them". Do people actually believe this to be true?

While the league is practically already won for them, I honestly saw nothing that indicated that they didn't take the game seriously. From what I've been told by Basque and Madrid- based fans, El Clasicos are more about cultural pride and civil rivalry than importance towards winning titles. If you ask international fans, you'd think pride, in this particular case, was insignificant.

A loss is a loss. Madrid earned their win fair and square. Zidane particularly impressed. That said, how is this epitome of football? what is at stake that catapults this goal past others?
