There's at least 10 goals in 2012 that have been better....

And that's being incredibly kind.... great goal though.

Beautiful technique and timing

Certainly one of the best goals I can recall for the last few weeks

I don't think so, and neither did the Spanish speaking announcers on BEIN sport. In fact, they said that if Messi or C. Ronaldo had scored that goal it would have been goal of the year. They have a Liga bias, so it is impressive.

Ben Arfa has scored at least 2 better goals alone.

Ibra has a collection of goals too.....

It was a great goal but let's not go nuts.

This is without mentioning Cisse's ridiculous goal which is leagues above this goal.

Not one of the goals in that video comes even close to Kone's. Sorry.

Neither Mexes or Ibra's goals had a cross flying in at the speed that Kone caught that ball.

If anything that makes it easier for Kone because all he has to do is guide the ball.

Ibra and Mexes and to generate their own power and direction.

Standing over head kicks are much more impressive and take a lot more skill.

If you did a drill of that Kone goal you would be successful more often than you would if you tried to do a drill of a standing over head kick.

I suspect you have never played football at a competitive level. Catching a high speed cross on the volley is much more difficult. Sorry.

Ibra's overhead and Cisse's Matrix goal are the only ones that i can think of that are better

Uhh, I still play football competitively and I agree with moal.

While this is a very impressive goal and one of the better ones in the last few weeks, I think a standing overhead kick is more impressive and harder to pull off. In this case- as long as you get your timing and technique correct, and you hit it on target, it's a good shot and potentially a goal.

Now you have those same factors in a standing overhead kick, but you have to generate the power (which in turn makes it hard getting it on target), you have to direct it where you need it to go (in the case you mention, he really only needed to get it on target, due to pace of the cross), and Ibra's and Mexes are harder because those are more 'proper' overhead kicks, as opposed to this one, where he's coming at it horizontally.

IMO, Ibra and Mexes's goals are both more difficult and impressive, and I also believe a standing overhead kick is more impressive- but this goal deserves a lot of respect, it's one of the best I've seen in recent weeks.

Not a goal of the year contender, though.

Neither Ibra's or Mexes's goals are more difficult nor more impressive. This goal is similar to Zidane's goal (from the opposite side) which was, in fact, goal of the year when Real Madrid won its last CL.

Again, catching a cross in the manner that it was caught is the most difficult thing to do.
