free_cat wrote:footyfan01 wrote:My Picks -
Out - Toure
In - Creative CM like Thiago/Gundogan (100% without this kind of buy Pep can't work)
Out - Clichy
In - Young, fast, skilled LB
Out - Demichellis
In - Fantastic ball-playing CB capable of playing a high line
In - Fast pacy winger to compete with Sterling & De Bruyne
My predictions - Griezmann, Gundogan, Laporte, R. Rodriguez are in.
2nd season, out - Sagna, Fernando, Nasri
In - Top Attacking RB, CM, RW
Guardiola seemed to like fast pacy wingers who are intelligent enough to play CAM. City has 3 CAM's & 2 Wingers (bit unbalanced) & no creative CM.
City in 1 2017 -
Hart
Walker Kompany Laporte Rodriguez
Veratti Gundogan
Griezman Silva De Bruyne
Aguero
Bench - Bony, Sterling, Navas, Fernandinho, Otamendi, Kolarov/Zabaleta
Laporte is not a fantastic ball playing CB and Griezman is not a winger, though.
I'm pretty sure Pep likes Laporte and Boateng wasn't a ball playing CB either, but he turned into one.

Sterling isn't a good dribbler. He's quick, but not a good dribbler. He can beat a defender with his acceleration, but he's not that good technically.free_cat wrote:
I don't think Sterling will suffer under him. He likes players that can dribble and passing usually improves a lot with Pep.

I've come to the conclusion that Pep is football's biggest mercenary. You can say anything you want about Mourinho, but it's pretty clear to me that unlike Guardiola, he has certain goals. Guardiola appears to go the easy way and sign for the highest bidder

Gundogan is a possibility, but he's also been on the bad end of injuries as well. Veratti no way, to me it seems PSG and City have some kind of gentleman agreement, so they won't go there and even if they do PSG won't sell.
Laporte is purchasable, so is Griezmann.

They'd all do the same thing if they had the freedom of choice like Guardiola has right now. I think it's great he's coming to the Premier League, it will be a bigger challenge than winning the Bundesliga with Bayern and we will get to know more about his ability.

He was never going to come here. LOL at some deluded United fans. Wtf would he take over a scrub team? We dont have the intelligence to play his game when we are struggling with LVGs less vertical position game.

Another interesting thing to consider: what happens with Joe Hart? I'm not entirely sure he can play as a sweeper keeper.
Joe Hart should be the least of his worries right now.

Gundogan is a good shout actually. Can see that one happening.
I dont think they necessarily need any big signing in attack.Midfield and defense will probably get a rejuvenation considering they have many ageing players.

Along with a CM, they also need a DM who's good with the ball. Someone like Weigl who they've been linked with recently. I can't see them signing 2 Dortmund players in one window.
They also should have snapped up Banega. Would have fit in perfectly.

Well the thing is Aguero is injury prone and with Pep work rate he installs in his players that may get worse perhaps. Sterling is still a question mark as he could do well, but he also could flop under Pep.

Maybe Pep can get Aguero healthy
I seem to remember before Pep that Messi was quite injury prone tbh, most of Aguero's injuries seem to be down to poor preperation than anything else. Muscle injuries are very avoidable.

That maybe true, but his injury records at Bayern haven't been too good either, unless the players aren't following his diet plans

Not surprised.. Pep just jumps from stacked team to stacked team in his journey of stat padding and trophy padding
City will give him the most money to splash on players

That is if you consider Arsenal to be a good team defensively

Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
These mental gymnastics get better and better
In what world is City a stacked team? This is the weakest PL I've seen in my life and they're second
Pep wanted to go to the PL, Man City offered him the most control and has the best squad so he picked them, yes. But stacked? I've never heard so much rubbish in my life. Inb4 if he doesn't win the treble he's a fraud
This isn't FIFA where if you have 150 mil you can buy anyone you want. People thinking because he has control of transfers and City's rich he's going to sign 11 world class players are deluding themselves.
Unbelievable. He'll sign 3-4 people in the summer and the target will be winning the PL. Anything more will be seen as a massive bonus.

Well, them being the best squad in the league means they're stacked by EPL standards so I don't get your point. Now he has a blank check to sign whoever he wants.
