Re: Zidane Sack Watch
He confronted Flo on a few occasions and was ignored...and then they got distanced (hence him saying he wish that his relationship the last few months were better).
This letter today wasn't a surprise to Real Madrid either. He told all this to Flo in their last meeting and let him know he would be writing a letter to the fans.
Zidane doesn't do anything behind people's back. It's not his style. He'll tell you what's up first and then take action.
That's why players have said that, good or bad, you can't say that ZZ didn't communicate. He will tell you exactly how how he feels about things.

Re: Zidane Sack Watch
sportsczy wrote:He's had a feud with Jose Angel Sanchez, the director (in fact the COO) at Real Madrid who ACTUALLY influences the transfer decisions for Florentino Perez. Namely, the one who decided to pay 40 million for every kid under the age of 20 with any talent as opposed to buying established players.
ZZ does not trust or like him. Has been like this since day before he was a manager. Knew him when he was a director at real madrid with Mourinho there.
ZZ was fine with rebuilding, but wanted a clear say on transfers this time. He was shut down. So he wasn't going to invest his personal equity on a project he did not believe in.
Of course, the lack of support when he took an aging and depleted squad to CL semis and the last day of la liga bothered him too. He thinks that it's Jose Angel who was making those leaks to the media. It was him during Mou's days so why would it be different.
Finally, the timing of the announcement of the super league, which put a target on him and every real madrid player while they were fighting for trophies put the final nail in.
The letter is meant to make it clear that there were reasons to leave that had to do with internal structure of real madrid... not just because a cycle was ending.
In short, this was directed mostly at Jose Angel Sanchez. Flo Trump, as the president of Real Madrid, bears the responsibility of this toxic environment however.
Surprised by this Sanchez COO guy... I always thought Real preferred to buy big names instead of the relatively young unknowns until last couple of years cos they started having financial issues. And Flo did get him Hazard, and Jovic?
Anyway, if there is something wrong in the management of the club and hes trying to expose it, its a good thing, and brace thing to do. We all know often these management ppl at the big clubs especially Barca/Real) often involve so much power play and self interests unfortunately, leaving the team manager not having an easy job when it could be easier.

Re: Zidane Sack Watch
Journalist is a jerk, but Zidane’s letter was a poor way of leaving.
This really isn’t a newsworthy item let alone discussion.
I’m more interested in how we are going to move forward. They are a couple of interesting diversions from plan we had heard about, since Carlo has come back.
- Marcelo is staying.
- Miguel, Blanco, Marvin, Aribas and Duro (if his loan from Getafe is renewed) are to remain with Raul at Castilla and available for callups.
Issue is over 30 players on 1st team and little interest elsewhere to sign any of them.
The interest in trying to sign Mbappe however is still there.
Re Ramos situation, it does seem like he will stay with club and Varane up for sale (but after Euros).

Re: Zidane Sack Watch
Daniel Riolo from RMC in France just hinted that Zidane will take over the team. The journalist is not a transfer journalist but he is connected and nailed the Messinto PSG, Mbappe renewal news before anyone.
I would have mixed feelings about this situation but good luck to him

When Macron came out and made the statement about Zidane and PSG yesterday... I felt something was up. Politicians like him don't say such things unless something's brewing.

Re: Zidane Sack Watch
Maybe I'm old-fashioned in this particular issue, but I find it weird and borderline pathetic to have a president of a country call players and managers asking them to stay or come.
I would think he has more urgent and important matters to deal with rather than football, but what do I know?

Re: Zidane Sack Watch
Now RMC reporting that PSG and Zidane are close to finalizing agreement.
That escalated quickly lol.
Reason Macron is involved here is because a major initiative he’s launching in France to get kids off the street is via sports youth programs, and football being the biggest. He wants role models and inspiration to attract these kids. PSG, Mbappe and Zidane are big in this context.
Spending a lot of new money here.
He wants as many French football icons involved as possible.

Holy **** Zidane to PSG could be the move that really elevates them to the next level? Had to happen sometime, France's biggest player ever, bigger now, n biggest club... n Messi there too, would be really exciting to see this.

According to AS Zidane has declined QSG's offer to coach their team. Wants to wait for the NT job. With the way Deschamps is coaching that team, that ambition won't be far away

Re: Zidane Sack Watch
I wouldn't discount what Riolo of RMC is saying... he broke the Messi to PSG and Mbappe staying at PSG stories. He's really well connected to the club.
Not saying it will happen... but if he's saying that Zidane to PSG is imminent, I wouldn't discount it.
Besides, rumor is Zidane has an absolute clause that he's free to leave if France NT ask for him. So it doesn't preclude him from anything there.

Didn't Zidane's adviser deny the reports?
So if Deschamps gets sacked after the WC, QSG will have enjoyed him for 6 months?

He denied that PSG or the Emir of Qatar have spoken to Zidane directly... which they haven't. They're negotiating via intermediaries.halamadrid2 wrote:Didn't Zidane's adviser deny the reports?
Don't want this story to run wild if it doesn't happen. They're making sure both sides are covered.

Deschamps isn't getting sacked. France will make the quarters of the WC at least... unless injury happens. Only way he gets sacked is if they lose before that.
Le Graet absolutely loves Deschamps.

Don't feel bad for him. He's known that he's gone since the CL exit. Already agreed on a payout. He doesn't want to lose the money so he hasn't left... otherwise, he would have resigned right after the season.halamadrid2 wrote:I feel sorry for Pochettino.
