I wouldn't mind a fight but I got nothing to fight over. Madrid is being clownish apparently and I have no business with Bayern unless they play Madrid which in any case, you'll probably be manita'd again.

I’m of two opinions on this. For me Xavi, Iniesta and Zidane are probably the best CMs ever. I don’t see a lot of difference between the three although I definitely do not like the personality of Xavi. But that has nothing to do with his fútbol skills.

Surprised I'm the only one so far but Iniesta for me, by a distance too. Their peaks were similar but Iniesta was far more consistent.

A lot of people forget this tbh, because of some amazing moments and his last WC being extremely memorable for both good and bad reasons.

But Zidane was arguably better at Juventus than he was at Real due to some really inconsistent years at Madrid.

With that said if we are being fair Iniesta has had a similar trajectory the last few years.

I don't understand why people compare them though, Zidane was a much better 10 than Iniesta and Iniesta was a much better 8 than Zidane.

Shame that he isn't nearly half as talented as a manager as he was as a player.

I grew up watching him play and admiring everything about him. His grace and elegance for someone of his size, his ridiculous ability to control a football which went hand in hand with being able to naturally use both feet, his leader among men sort of attitude which made his "violent" tendencies very interesting to say the least.

It's not that I didn't see his flaws either. He had a tendency to just walk around the pitch and a bit "lazy". And of course, talent like that would never always have great games and he would have a bad match here or there. But he wasn't someone who hid from the big occasion and he knew he was depended on. I remember fondly Hitzfeld literally adjusting his entire Bayern defense tactics to neutralise Zidane by not man marking him but zonal marking his range of passing. At the time, it was a big deal.

But I am bias and shouldn't be taken objectively at all. Don't apologise for it either. In conclusion, I love Iniesta as much as Dante and fancy him just the same but Zidane is someone that honestly means a lot to my football upbringing. No top ten crap, no he has more trophies, just good old Doc liking Zidane just that much more.

Apparently my 2016 post still remains true to this day. Well done younger Doc, well done.

Tbh Doc none of that really argues in favour of Zidane, it's just a long post about your feelings for the man.

I hope older Doc has managed to let him know how you truly feel tbh.

It is not so much of an argument for me. I like Zidane more than I like Iniesta. I was never a fan of comparing these two men but since at GL, we insist, I would choose that Frenchman over Ini any day. Older Doc aka me isn't as pleasant with his aka my opinion these days so I let it slide.

Personally I 'd have given Balon D'or to Zidane even after his warhead against Materazzi . It'd have been more deserved than Cannavaro for me.
