Liverpool vs. Carlisle United
As we face possible the easiest game of the season, Liverpool fans should be forgiven if they bear any dread even for this one. Things may not get any easier than this, facing a League Two side at home, but we have shown an uncanny aptitude to mess things up.
Besides, we have a track record of slipping against minnows. Twelve months ago, penalties were required to see off the resistance of Middlesbrough. The previous season Notts County took the game to extra time before losing 4-2.
Throw in narrow scrapes against Crewe Alexandra, Cardiff City and Watford, defeat to Grimsby Town and the nadir of Northampton Town – arguably the most embarrassing Anfield result in Liverpool’s history – nothing should be taken for granted when Brendan Rodgers’ side take the first step on the road to Wembley having fallen at the penultimate hurdle last term.

I'm pretty sure, Ifty, that most of the guys you've put there will be rested.
I'd play:
I'd play:
Bogdan
Ibe - Gomez - Lovren - Enrique
Lallana - Rossiter - Allen
Teixeira
Origi - Ings

Would like Brannagan to get proper minutes, Easily the best prospect at the club after Adorjan.

Re: Liverpool vs. Carlisle United
I think Rodgers will be quite desperate to get a result here and will field the best team. Also, what's the use of resting key players if they can't breach Norwich?Art Morte wrote:I'm pretty sure, Ifty, that most of the guys you've put there will be rested.
I'd play:Bogdan
Ibe - Gomez - Lovren - Enrique
Lallana - Rossiter - Allen
Teixeira
Origi - Ings
If giving the young/fringe players is the objective, I would like to see:
Bogdan
Joe-Toure-Sakho-Enrique
Rossiter-Allen
Ibe-Lallana-Origi
Ings
Joe-Toure-Sakho-Enrique
Rossiter-Allen
Ibe-Lallana-Origi
Ings
Bench: Lovren, Firmino, Sturridge and some young chaps

So is Joe Gomez now eternally benched for that penalty he conceded against United?

It's only been one game that he hasn't played. He'll feature definitely. But he's 18 I don't think even he expected to be starting 6 of the first 7 matches for us when he signed.
I like him but he's got a lot to learn.

Re: Liverpool vs. Carlisle United
We played with wing-backs against Norwich, I'm guessing the next time we'll play with full-backs he'll play again. Although Moreno did perform well (then again he had very little defending to do).

Re: Liverpool vs. Carlisle United
This is a good omen: Carlisle have conceded the most goals so far in League Two, 17.
This is a bad omen: Carlisle have scored the most goals so far in League Two, 17.

Re: Liverpool vs. Carlisle United
Five, I think.
Bogdan, Clyne, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Can, Milner, Allen, Lallana, Firmino, Ings.
That's a strong line-up.

Re: Liverpool vs. Carlisle United
Yet either of them cost probably 10 times as much as Carlisle's whole XI

And it's the 'Freaking Emre in Defense' again . I thought he was going with 442 .

It's kinda funny that we're playing a stronger team against Carlisle at home than against Bordeaux away.

Magsy, do you still make gifs? Our corner routine on 22 minutes would be worth one.

Must have been a record for how fast you play the ball to your keeper from your corner-kick.
Anyway, Ings with a goal and this game looks settled already.
