Liverpool vs. Norwich City
After the humiliation against WHU and MU, last night’s game gives a moment of respite. Next up is Norwich. The stake of this game has been upped not just by our shambolic start to this season, but also by the omission of eight regulars from the Bordeaux squad.
Norwich is currently one spot ahead and level with us on points; and they have scored more than us. Henderson and Allen will be unavailable but Sturridge might feature on the bench while most of the rested players are expected to start.

I prefer Moreno. Two attacking wing-back to supplement the attack while Lucas will provide the extra cover for the defense.Art Morte wrote:Clyne - Skrtel - Sakho - Gomez

This could be Brendan's (Hodgson vs. Wolves) moment.
But a Coutinho wonder goal from 80 yards out will probably bail him out.

Re: Liverpool vs. Norwich City
Rodgers isn't going to sacked or secured over any individual or even few games. If we are in a decent position by end of October, he will probably stay for rest of the season. Unless that follows with a dreadful run. If we continue to struggle for another couple of months, he will be sacked.Natalie Portman wrote:This could be Brendan's (Hodgson vs. Wolves) moment.

I hope we play that because it seems like nothing else is working for us atm. If BR plays that 3-4-3,

You guys considered playing Ings up top alone, or is that a bad idea?

Benteke will play and he should. Hopefully him and Sturridge get minutes together.

I don't know, I just think Ings has a better ceiling. Of course, you guys would like to go with what would work best at the moment, but I don't see you guys heading far with Benteke as your lead striker.

Re: Liverpool vs. Norwich City
I'm dreading that Rodgers will persist with 433 with the players rested mid-week:
If he wants to persist with 433, he should at least include Ibe & Lallana and drop Firmino & Lucas to accommodate them. Ibe and Lallana hasn't been great but they are better than Firmino in the wide areas. Without Coutinho operating in the central channel, there will be absolutely no attacking threat. Also, Moreno should be included. Though he didn't offer much going forward, we have been offering free-pass to our opponents in that channel.

Re: Liverpool vs. Norwich City
I want to see one of two setups:
3CBs
...or a narrow 4231.
Mind you, I don't think either will happen as I've laid them out.
As for the Ings/Benteke debate, I don't think there's any point, really? While you could argue that Ings has performed better in the past few matches, Beneteke has hardly been put in a position to succeed. Ins was at least played in a position where he received support, albeit far to deep to expect any real goal-threat.
In my opinion, Benteke is far better than Ings and is far more capable of a moment of brilliance at this point in his career. For me, the discussion should be less about who plays up top, and more about how we support whoever plays up top. Don't isolate the striker, providing supply and supporting runs, and whoever plays up top will look miles better than the past few matches.

Seems pretty desperate to me. Should have been on the bench with Ings starting.

Re: Liverpool vs. Norwich City
Moreno, Lucas, and Sakho our best players in the first.
Everyone else playing from decent to well.
Sturrdige and Milner should have scored. Those 2 chances were the clear cut chances that we should score. The rest of them were half chances.
Maybe Benteke and Clyne were poor. Clyne doesn't offer nearly as much as Moreno going forward as a wingback. Also I've come to the conclusion that Milner is poor version of Hendo. Hendo really does everything better than Milner in that position.

Re: Liverpool vs. Norwich City
Probably the best football we played this season. Bently may look like a tank but he can maneuver like a jet-fighter. Milner has good movement but equally bad passing & shooting.

Yeah.
Man, Norwich are there for the taking, gaps opening all the time in their defence. Gutted that we haven't scored from our half-chances, Sturridge especially had a great chance. By the way, he needs to get rid of this belief that a defender commits a foul just by physically existing.
We're totally on top here, just need to score a goal!
Ps. Milner's dive was embarrassing.
