manutd.com wrote:Louis van Gaal took his Manchester United players to Stanford University on Thursday morning to continue preparations for the International Champions Cup clash with Barcelona, with Sir Alex Ferguson watching on from the sidelines.

The Reds former boss joined up with the tour party earlier this week in his role as a club ambassador and attended training with his old club captain Bryan Robson, also an ambassador for United.

The pair watched on as van Gaal's men worked on the plans for the match against the current European champions at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on Saturday lunchtime, as part of Tour 2015, presented by Aon.

United have already recorded two wins out of two in the ICC, following victories over Club America and San Jose Earthquakes, and the Reds enjoyed a morning training session at Stanford Uni ahead of the Barca meeting.

De Gea, Darmian, Jones, Blind, Shaw, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Mata, Young, Depay, Rooney #mufc  #MUtour

The nutter is starting Blind at CB for the 3rd game in a row. Really *bleep* hope he's not thinking of playing him there when the season starts.

Anyways, hoping for a good performance and match. The usual.

Yea. Expected this . Really shocking to see both Ander and Smalling on the bench.
And he said the team starting today will start against Spuds.

We finally have a team to play 4-3-3 and our dear boss has decided out of the blue to go back to a 4-4-2. rofl
Really frustrated. Let's see how it is going to pan out.

Lol there's a correction. He now has said this.

LvG: "This is not the line-up we will play, or can play against Tottenham. That is the most important game, not this friendly." #MUFC

Yesterday he had said a different thing entirely. Dont know why lvg is trying so hard to be a troll lately. Rolling Eyes

Disappointed with rooney tbh. Schneiderlin too looks a bit off.

FT- Utd 3-1 Barca

Entertaining game.

The Good-

-Darmian. Really impressed by him so far. Excited to see how he does once the real games begin.
- Our 2nd goal being made and finished by our academy players.
- Defensively I thought we were pretty sound. Blind had a decent match, far better than what I expected. Fell asleep at stoppage time, but eh...it was good.
-Memphis looks a physical beast. So suited for the prem. (Had to mention that)

The Bad-

-Wayne Rooney. Someone please teach him how to control the ball.
- Mata had a pretty poor match. Slowed everything down in the final 3rd.

Overall, a good work out and a flattering scoreline. They hit the post like 3 times.

Pretty much this.
His first instinct when he receives a football on his feet is to either go sideways or backwards. Its weird really how much talent he has got and how much he is not really putting to use.
In case of a player like Valencia its understandable as he is really limited player who lacks intelligence and vision but why on earth is a player like mata trying to play safe when he has got the ability to pick out that pass. scratch

He was really missing herrera it was evident. The lad better improve, cos pretty sure its because there is no one else he is getting to play. Once/if we buy a new winger and if he continue with this shite he will go straight onto the bench.

United XI: De Gea, Darmian, Jones, Blind, Shaw, Carrick, Schweinsteiger, Mata, Memphis, Young, Rooney

Looking pretty certain that Blind will be the starting CB against Spurs. Ugh  No other reason why he'd be starting all our pre season games ahead of Smalling, especially our final match against before the real thing starts.

Schweinsteiger back from injury and starting is a plus.

I know, it's weird to see LvG insisting on Blind, but so far he has been fantastic, his physique reminds me of a young Cannavaro.

I am glad that Bastian is playing.

Those 2 goals conceded and general defensive display in that 1st half underlined what a calamity our defence is.

Jones and Blind at the back are an accident waiting to happen.

But Blind did nothing wrong. Jones was awful and Shaw had some difficulties. Blind played pretty well, also Darmian didn't let Lucas breath.

Blind was caught out a couple of times. His defending is excellent. But to be capable center back one needs more than just defending. Speed and positioning are also vital an that's where his problem lies.
Jones on the other hand though. Laughing
Playing 2 holding mid fielders and playing depay in the hole. Seems Lvg' master plan is on display. Proud

Play this shit and premier league teams will destroy us. Like last season watch us fk up the start of the season and then play catch up all the way. Genius of lvg. take a bow.

Periera and Darmian have been the highlight of this match.

Sprinkle of quality on a few occasions, but the same problems as last season seem to remain- slow predictable build-up, calamitous defending and square pegs in round holes starting 11. I know it's only pre season but it's showing against a quality organized team.

We badly need a new CB and another additional good attacking outlet.

PSG were just better on the night.

We make too many mistakes. Not only in defense, but also when we build up attacks. No risks assumed and still to many mistakes, too many passes from one side to the other of the pitch.

We don't look organised, in fact we are the opposite. We are chaotic when the opponents put pressure on us, zero team chemistry, players don't sync and seem to have different perspectives on how to defend or attack.

Louis van Gaal must work hard to make them understand that football is not an individual sport. Players must learn to keep a shorter distance between them and make more support runs otherwise we will end up losing every ball during a game; they must be alerted and concentrated because in EPL and UCL any mistake can be decisive.

Only positive aspects are some individual moments from some players when we could see their talent and potential but honestly I'm tired of this things. We know that we have quality in our squad, we need to grow as a team.

I know it's only a friendly match but from what I've seen today, we don't have a chance to win EPL this season with this style of play and attitude. This game against PSG revealed much more about our team than the other three matches MUTD played in this pre-season tour. We must change a lot until EPL starts!

Utter joke of a performance. It was like Darmian vs psg rather than man u vs psg most of the time.
But this lack of penetration, slow build up play, lack of team work all these problems in our game right now can b easily avoided and addressed. Its not even that hard. Can't understand this guy' s logic however hard I try. At least finally he have the players now that he want and yet the he comes up with such weird decisions.

Just a pre season game but still, not encouraging signs at all for the season ahead. Force herera out like this and I will be done with him whatever grand and groundbreaking his long term vision and crap for the club is.
I am overreacting a tad. Let's wait for the season to begin.
