Downloading now. Is it really that disappointing?

Played a couple of matches. Still plays very much like PES 2019 except I feel it is more fluidity to the game. Some new animations, and the improved ball physics make the ball moves very nicely.

But man the passing in this game is awfully overpowered. I was just spamming X on my PS controller and the ball would find its target no matter how tight the spaces were or how bad at passing my player was. Zero interception from the opponents, passes all laser-guided. I really hope they bring more individuality to the passing and make use of the passing stats cause right now everyone passes like prime Xavi. I was toying with Barcelona playing as Boca

I feel like I'm playing 19.

Very disappointing so far.

PES is usually very different from year to year, nothing obvious this time.

I only had time for a couple of games, will go more in detail once I play more.

The stupidest thing is the animations though.

Apparently there's a new animation when a player gets hit in the balls, so Bonucci got hit in the balls and then instead of clearing he just held on to his balls for a couple of seconds, even though he was the only player near the ball. That was in front of goal, and another player came and scored.

GK animations take ages, can't start a counter at all, everyone is back until the GK gets up, and until he actually kicks the ball it becomes pointless to even try.

Players are generally unresponsive, takes them too long to execute the control you commanded them, so this is very annoying for someone who plays extremely high paced like me.

Passing is atrocious on all 3 levels, like there's an invisible force pulling the ball. Triangle used to be OP, now it's useless. Starting a counter on triangle, even though it"s a simple pass, 90% chance it's gonna be too strong and give the ball away in a dangerous position.

I tried the X passing like Dany suggested, it was very ping pong, like I was playing Fifa. Normally I combine triangle and x, but that is pointless now as triangle is very random, I have to change my style quite drastically to possesion game and long attacks.

Movement is quite bad, especially from players who are supposed to make a run into space, they just stand, no anticipation. Direction change from players when defending feels like they are all 100kg heavy, the just go another couple meters until they turn around.

Shooting is okay I guess. The best way to score is just x x x x x x until you pass to a striker, then shot feint in a direction where there is space and score, because defenders are already unresponsive, but they don't even move after the shot feint.

All in all, a very bad demo. Not many changes from 2019, and the changes I am seeing are negative.

2019 demo was 10/10, this I don't even want to grade.

Yeah I saw that ball hitting animation Personally I don't have a huge problem with it as it is realistic. It depends on how often it happens though, if it is happening once in a blue moon I don't mind it, but if it is happening every other match then it needs to be toned down.

Agreed with GK taking too long to kick.

I don't agree with unresponsive players though, if anything I felt the game was faster than 2019, I like that first touch can go wrong sometimes etc.

Regarding passing, I haven't tried through balls much but I didn't have any problems with them. What assistance level do you play on?

My problem with PES in general is how the game is scripted in a way that it already decides who is going to receive the ball when a pass is made. This 'bug' has been in the series since last gen but it is very annoying and destroys immersion. It leads to defenders being very inattentive to block passing lanes or intercept. For the attacking player it creates headaches when you have two players close together but the one that shouldn't receive the ball ends up receiving the ball instead and you pretty much can't do anything about it unless you super-cancel multiple times. It also leads to really poor behaviour when there is a loose ball and players look like dumb retards around it. Very annoying! And passing which we both agree on.

What I liked about the game is defending. It is more fun, with physicality more pronounced than ever before. And dribbling with the right stick opens new ways to play once you get the hang of it.

You and I will probably have different experiences considering I play online, I don't know if you tried it. Probably why you feel the game is responsive while I feel the opposite.

However the servers were down for a while and I tried offline, it is better.

No more low cross goals, thank god. However, now the CPU can't score at all What it can do is concede fould though. Everything I do is a foul. A bit too much IMO.

There are still 2 months until the release date. I'm sure they released the demo to get feedback from the community early so they can change the code for release.

I don't know if they changed anything or the fact that I switched port settings gave me a more stable online experience, but this is much much better. Still has some way to go but this is a step in the right direction.

Maybe also has to do with me adapting my play style to 2020. I am able to beat most opponents with Flamengo online, but still not as good as 2019, on 2019 demo I only had one draw and like 100 wins, also with Flamengo.

Unfortunately I somehow managed to get acid in my eyes so I haven't played in a while.

First impressions? Shite. No squad update until the 12th, so every team has last season's squads. Arsenal still have Denis Saurez. Pulisic isn't at Chelsea despite joining last January.

Konami's apology is to give you 500 myClub coins.

Not good enough, tbh. It's the most basic part of the game and there's no excuse for it not to be implemented from the beginning.

What's funny is that a SINGLE guy on the PC community, out of his own free time, has already got 80% of the transfers sorted out, yet a big company like Konami have yet to do so

I, in my own free time, have done most of the major leagues in two hours. Really is baffling how they can't get one guy to work on this.

As baffling as it is, this happens every year.

Is the game code the same as the Demo? I'm told Patch 1.01.01 will change the code to fix some of the concerns people had with the demo.

Read somewhere PES has a clubs mode this year?

Konami has become a total joke of a corporation. How are any of your surprised? Their moves pulled from 2015 to Kojima to the Metal Gear franchise to prioritising Panchenko machines over console gaming spells all we need to know of a business that is not focusing on core gaming like it used to.

Hearing the scathing reviews here have me not even want to try the demo.

Besides the squad thing, my big issue so far is that players are apparently built like rocks and impossible to tackle when they're shielding the ball.

I'm not even playing on the highest difficult yet these low rated players are like prime-Drogba, for some reason.

Oh, and my PS4 Pro sounds it like its about to take off whenever a match starts.

I'll get it tomorrow ( well, I thought Thursday but Amazon has just surprised ), curious to see..

I didn't know they hadn't still updated teams but luckily we should wait just the day after tomorrow for it.  Not a problem for me, also because I play on "My Club" (basically the master league online, for who ignores this )  mainly.

I am optimist though, nothing can be worse than Fifa
