I have never played a football game that is so frustrating. Every team plays the same way. CPU deciding a lot of 1v1 encounters. Dribbling is shit. Passing is scripted. Oh I could go on and on, but I don't want to waste my time thinking about this game any more.

I quit this PES in January, haven't touched it since.

It is so scripted I know what will happen every time, but the CPU doesn't let you stop it anyway.

2017 was brilliant aside from OP crossing, 2018 was good as well aside from UP defending, 2019 was absolutelly amazing until they introduced data pack 3.0 when everything became scripted and unresponsive.

2020 is ...

Basically they're skipping 2021 so the first PES on next gen can be something special.

Honestly I've been wanting football games to do this for years. One year dev cycles just aren't long enough to make a great and polished game.

Wish EA would build FIFA from scratch.

One of the worst PES games ever. Only played 5 hours and already not want to touch it again. Poor AI, random responsiveness, zero individuality, all teams playing the same way.

What a sad decline Konami they need to take a year break to move to next generation. I wish Take Two would try making a soccer game but EA’s hold on licenses is really blocking things up

Konami simply isn't interested in video games now and has moved on for over five years.

No really they prefer investing their gear into Pachenko more than video games hence why no big project from then has come out.

Say goodbye to PES. FIFA has been better for a while and only will best them from here on then.

Honestly PES in last 2 years was easily better than Fifa. Even a Fifa fan had to admitt this.
The last one doesn't look like satisfing though, not surprised, they're aiming at PS5 and the development for this PS4 game's been snubbed

Well this is a shame.

Evidently PES is pivoting hard towards multiplayer and embracing the mobile ecosystem. I guess it's good for people who just want to play online but for me, who only played PES for the offline modes, this is bad news.

Master League/Become a Legend were already neglected and never got the overhauls they needed. For them to be relegated to secondary concerns, as possible paid DLC later on, doesn't give me any confidence they'll be any better. I had hoped after taking a year off they would work on those modes.

I do think it makes sense for football games to become service games because paying full price for what only amounted to marginal upgrades (and sometimes downgrades) every year was getting silly. Only problem is, live services tend to neglect the single player experience.

Agreed with service game making sense. What looks to be the death of PES for me is:

1) single player being completely forgotten
2) having the same engine on a next gen console as on android means any hope for a football simulation falls into the gutter.

Goodbye PES.

Was already dead in with 2020 and naturally 2021.

I'll give it a chance though. Haven't played in a long long time, I've played it my entire life but 2020 was such garbage I just gave up.

I am a FIFA fan over PES anyday for reasons I can easily point out but as a firm believer in the good of competition, this will only have FIFA be regressed in the carbon copies of what they churn out.

Since they will have no completion I cannot see how they will do anything but calling a new dribble to avoid the touchline as EA Evasion tm or what not.
