El Cujo wrote:Or maybe the reason we're tapping up players that is on a free is because we're saying up a big bid for a bonafide elite player or two. That would not be so bad. Ings is quality and works hard, and Milner is also a quality player that has looked like one of City's best when he's been given the run this season. They are not bad acquisitions as long as they are not the marquee signings that we have. The depth is good because we will still have a grueling schedule with Europa and it's good to have a deep team.
That said Liverpool will not be lower than 5th next season. Everything that could go wrong did seem to go wrong this year, and we still finished in 5th. To put us over that top 4 hump though will require a consistent and healthy striker as well as a bit more consistency from our young talents.
I'm confident that at the very least guys like Coutinho, Henderson, Can, Moreno, Markovic, Ibe, Sakho, etc. will continue to improve and gain experience which will help the team be better.
You mean like a big bid for Lovren? Or Lallana?
"Ings is quality"
Milner is quality tbf. But he'll be our marquee signing. It's the Liverpool way, you know?
Nothing went wrong this season. I called this season from last years summer transfer window. It's predictable. Liverpool is predictable. Open your eyes. This season wasn't an outlier. We were carried by Suarez last season. Accept it.

Re: The Official Rodgers Out Thread
I guess you mean 'Saving' and if that is the case, that's a ridiculous notion.El Cujo wrote:Or maybe the reason we're tapping up players that is on a free is because we're saying up a big bid for a bonafide elite player or two.
1. We don't need many players, something you yourself have propagated.
2. We are not a mid-table, cash-strapped club
So the notion of 'Saving' doesn't come. Because if it does, it surely supports the allegation that we lack ambition.
I think Ings and Origi would be better back-ups than Borini and Lambert. Not so sure about Milner though. He will command a handsome wage and he is past his prime. But the thing that most scares me is, will he have any heart/hunger???
I'm not going to judge Liverpool, Rodgers, FSG, Transfer Committee; until we buy our stating striker.

I think only one or two posters had said otherwise. But RA always deserves special credit when he mentions it

ifty even after selling a player for almost 100m and gaining CL money we still only had a 30m net spend. Contrary to what some LFC fans think we don't have unlimited resources like other top teams. If we're gonna blow most or all of our budget on a legit striker I'm all for it.

Re: The Official Rodgers Out Thread
What do we need this season? A ST, a CM, a RWB and a GK. The striker will need the greatest amount of resources. If we buy a CM, we might be selling one as well. The RWB, a quality one, might be costly but nowhere near a fortune. The GK will cost nominal amount.El Cujo wrote:ifty even after selling a player for almost 100m and gaining CL money we still only had a 30m net spend. All these don't require an unlimited resources. It's not like we are asking for Hazaed etc. who would command obscene fee. All in all, the resource outlay isn't insurmountable and don't require unlimited resources. Most importantly, without this outlay, we can't hope to make Champions League.
We would be selling some players nevertheless. But if FSG don't sanction the necessary funds, their vision, intelligence and motive must be questioned.

Re: The Official Rodgers Out Thread
Yeah but I don't disagree with any of that. I never said we weren't going to spend at all, but the bulk of the spend is going to have to be toward a striker. All I said was that if signing guys like Ings and Milner on frees gives us the means to put an extra 20-35m or more (as guys of their caliber would cost otherwise) towards one or two really elite players then it's not a bad thing. They are not bad players.
I'm sure if on a contract guys like Ings and Milner could go for 10 - 20m each if not more due to inflated British prices.

No, technically you said this:
mr-r34 wrote:League: Top 4
CL: If we get a GOD, then, my objective is to leave the group without humiliating ourselves, other wise minimum round of 16.
FA/COC: Finals, considering our 2nd team should still be able to hold their own we should be going deep in both.

Re: The Official Rodgers Out Thread
exactly, Milner is a kind of palyer we might need. Remember we are losing experience in terms of Gerrard and JohnRAson even Toure may be. So Milner on free will be a good signing. His free kicks are a plus point too

what now for rodgers and liverpool.
the sad thing about the loss to palace today wasent getting beat 3-1. it was the fact we all saw it coming. in the villa game we got ripped by Sherwood and delph. in the palace game and not just this one. we got ripped by parduw and pichion. and if someone told me we got any of them 4 at Liverpool tomorrow I would cry my eyes out. so what does that say about what we are seeing now. imo Rodgers would be the best u21 manager in the world. but boy has he payed big money for a big pile of shit. the thing is we don't have the money to correct it.

Re: The Official Rodgers Out Thread
The best thing about Ancelotti would be his reputation that would help attract players, but listen, his last three clubs have been Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid, even if he's out of job in the summer there's no way he's coming to Liverpool in our current state.
