On the other hand, it comes pretty handy if you have a goalie who can save goals nicely *and* keep possession when he passes the ball properly to his team-mates

True BUT what is the priority keep possession or save goals? What would you pick RWO (except good looking GK's ).

Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. III
No one is claiming that technique on the ball is more important than attributes such as shot stopping or command of their area. Given two keepers of similar ability when it comes to preventing goals, why shouldn't their capacity on the ball be taken into account to split them? If a keeper can't be trusted to play the ball out safely then he is putting his defence under additional pressure, turning the ball over in sensitive areas and affording the opposition extra chances. Why shouldn't it count against him?

I'm skimming the comments on Facebook and people have their own arguments that he should despite 0 PL appearances this season and only 14 last season.
England lack creative CMs, but obviously Wilshere shouldn't be picked, he's not that special that he should get in the team after not playing at all this season.
Carroll should be picked as plan

Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. III
I just don't think Tom Carroll really has it in him to be a useful squad member for England, though. At least, not at this point in his career. Let him get consistent minutes elsewhere and then we'll talk.
As for Wilshere, there are people who really think he should call up Wilshere? RG aside, I mean?
I would argue that England don't necessarily need a creative CM though. England have pretty decent attacking advanced of the CM's. As long as the CM/DM's can do a good enough job of keeping the ball and being able to get it to those players and let them do the work, I don't particularly see a big need. It's nice to have and it's preferable, but it's not 100% needed. If they really needed it, Dele Alli can play deeper too, anyway

Comparing two keepers between them Yes I accept it, it makes sense but rating a keeper based on passing is a huge no at least for me .

Re: Not Worthy of a Thread Mk. III
A seven-year-old boy has written to a football club asking for the job as team manager.
The handwritten application follows the departure of John Hughes from Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Writing to chairman Kenny Cameron, Ewen says he can speak to his headmaster to "see if he would be up for me leaving school early for important matches".
He adds: "I'm sure it won't be a problem as long as the players chip in and help me with my homework."

Australia's women's national team lose 7-0 in friendly against Newcastle Jets U15 side
lol this is why I laugh when some social justice warriors think top female athletes can compete in a men's league.
