Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Liverpool Echo wrote:Liverpool have received a significant boost in their £20m pursuit of Memphis Depay. Depay's been given permission to hold talks with clubs willing to pay £20m for his services and LFC have made an offer. Playing in the Champions League isn't a deal breaker for Depay who instead wants to find a club where he's able to develop.

Please include sources so that we can tell when reports are simply quoting twatter Internet Bullshit Artists and can thus ignore them.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
No thanks to Montoya, any full-back would manage to look half-decent playing for Barcelona. If he played for Espanyol we wouldn't be interested, just saying.

On the subject, which (realistic) player WOULD you all want for a RB signing? A signing, not a renewal or return.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I wouldn't mind Clyne to be honest. He's solid, young and likes to attack as well. The only real problem is that he's British so would cost much more than his market value. Gregory van der Wiel wouldn't be an awful option at a cut price. He had a good season last year and hasn't been bad this season.

I'd like Clyne if he didn't play for Southampton. Don't want to buy yet another of their players, plus they can ask for a massive fee.

Chambers is better than Clyne remember? Maybe we'll save him from Arsenal because of Bellerin / Newcastle's old full back (I've gone blank lmao)

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I think both Clyne and Aurier would be very costly. By costly, I mean paying lot more than they are worth. Besides, I can't see PSG selling a player they just bought last season and the player himself forsaking CL football. Arsenal will not sell Chambers. I don't think BMG will sell Fabian as it might cause unnecessary squad reshuffle. Besides, with CL money, they don't need to sell. Trippier would be cheap but will he improve much? I think players like Theodor (though I haven't got any clue about him) or Piszczek still have 2-3 years in their prime.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Trippier would be excellent imo
He would come cheap. Less than 4m, His wages will be below 80k. He is defensively very good, Thats basically all we need from a full back.
Burnley Player of the Year: 2011–12
Football League Championship PFA Team of the Year: 2012–13, 2013–14
Probably will be player of the year again this year unless Ings or Boyd takes it.
Consistent.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
My biggest reservation about him is that, he has just one season at top level. Also, don't think he will cost 80k, may be around 50k.Nishy wrote:Trippier would be excellent imo

Trippier discussions is the last thing this Liverpool section needs imo.
I urge you to stay grounded for a change.

Other defenders in those '13 and '14 Championship teams of the year: Jason Shackell, Wayne Bridge, Mark Hudson, Wes Morgan twice...
If Trippier was a young RB coming through the ranks at Liverpool, he'd either have had the fate of Kelly by now or then that of Flanagan: gets into the team a little bit, but still running out of contract this summer.

Son Heung Min would be a decent acquisition, But it does not fit the bill of a "proven marquee goal scorer".

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I think they're going to keep Flanagan for what it's worth.
Aside from Clyne and Janmaat who are going to be overpriced there are a few well rated RBs in Germany that could be had much cheaper. Jantschke, Sorg, Grosskreutz and Rudy (the last two are quite versatile which I think Rodgers would like) I don't think would be overly expensive.

Sign this Tony dude to piss rwo off.
German players are usually worth it. Probably come cheap as well.
We should tap the Dutch and German market.
