One of my favourite players ever. Sadly his physical decline was too profound last season.

Let's not rewrite history

what's funny about that cover is, sneijjder had played no more than four games for madrid when marca came up with another one of their trademark, boneheaded headlines...his madrid career was basically; he was amazing the first few weeks, good the rest of the season, got injured the next season and then was sold to inter....
imagine years from now someone saying sneijder was so great even the spanish media compared him to di stefano, and this marca post (which was four games into his madrid career) is the proof.

Re: Copa America 2015
Again, like I said to be fair the talent was always there with Sneijder. I don't think that Mourinho brought it out of him he was fantastic before going to Madrid, was great there until he started having issues with injury and then in the typical Madrid way they sold both him and Robben and bought new toys.
Sneijder is actually playing quite well in Turkey right now too (and has looked good for Netherlands when deployed correctly) after the weird falling out in Italy. It'll be interesting to see what happens to him when his contract runs out. He may stay just because he's treated like a legend at Galatasaray and makes good money, but I heard rumours of MLS which would just be silly for a player of his talent right now (though I'd love it since I could watch him in person frequently that way).
But back to the Copa...is Suarez expected to play at all?

This same Dunga won Copa America 2007 with both Kaka and Ronaldinho having dropped out and in the final he beat a star studded brilliant Argentina team purely on tactics.
This same Dunga also won Confed 2009 while a much fancied Spain team bowed out in the semi finals.
This same Dunga had made Brazil almost unbeatable before WC 2010 and not for a moment since then during these last five years have they been that strong.
The bottom line is that Dunga could be making mistakes just like any coach one day or the other makes mistakes. After all some people think a lot of what Pep Guardiola is doing at Bayern Munich is a mistake and perhaps just as many think Mourinho threw away the UCL tie against PSG with mistakes.
Dunga is far from being a bad coach or tactician. Some people don't like his style of play for which he can arguably be blamed a little but we must also consider that he doesn't have much high quality talent at his disposal to work with.
I think what may be happening is that Dunga takes time to build his teams and before that he experiments a good deal. Some of the decisions he takes during this experimental phase can be baffling but given time he should be able to build the right squad.
I agree on the premise of this post, and I like Dunga as a coach and I believe last time he was fired he lost like 1 or 2 games in a couple years or something like that.
But please don't say Brazil doesn't have high quality talent. Just please don't go there.
When you see what the like of Colombia, Holland, Chile, Uruguay, Italy, Czech Republic, Croatia, Switzerland, Costa Rica have to work with and then compare that to Brazil it's a joke.
He may not be picking the right players, like having Dani Alves as a last minute edition because of injury but Brazil compared to other national teams is stocked with talent.
Yes, they may need to use tactics instead of just rolling a ball out there and being better than everyone in this version of the team but please don't assume they don't have talent.
Basically every national team other than 1 or 2 would die to have Brazil's selection issues.
I also agree with the basic premise of your post but I suppose Brazil do lack in some key areas of the pitch. In order to play beautifully a team usually needs high quality central midfielders. Does Brazil have them?
A few years back no country in the world could match Brazil for upcoming football talent but nowadays doesn't it seem like Spain, Argentina and Germany are ahead of them in this respect. Maybe France also. There could be others as well.

Re: Copa America 2015
It was one game with the official amount t be announced today. There are reports saying that he confronted the referee after the match, and that's where the four game suspension came from, but Conmebol hasn't confirmed this.farfan wrote:so the ban went from 2 games down to 1 yesterday , and then up to 4 ? wtf ?
