So what went wrong at ManUtd for Kagawa

The guy is a talent, thats for sure, and scores straight away back at Dortmund. So what was wrong with Man U or him at Man U that just led him to perform so poorly most of the time? His form got affected so much that international form was also affected more or less? Just coincidence or probably the game style, and would be glad if someone can go into more details like all the tactics masters here

Fergie played him as a DM
Moyes played him as a winger
LVG didn't know how to play him 'cos he's dense

The fact that he never played in his optimized position or the one that Klopp reduced for him to perform.

Meaning the SS/AM type of position right?

couldn't perform at the top level.

never got a good run at #10 position with Rooney infront of him and then moyes panic buying Mata and him coming in....he played fantastic for us when he did start in his preferred position.

glad he is showing his quality again at Dortmund...we just never gave him a fair shot really

He was never good enough for United and was purchased predominantly to increase commercial revenue in Asia.

That's unfair on him tbh, he was def good enough for Utd. Like BMac said, just didn't get enough time in the position he excels at and played in a system that didn't benefit him. He relies on pace, one touch football and lots of movement in front and around him. What he got was static players playing in a rigid system- whenever he got a rare chance as a no.10.

He also usually got shifted to the wing or as a cm, and general didn't even get a start in the team.

Good to see him shining again for BvB. He's a class player, it just didn't work out for him at Utd.

pretty much what all United fans will tell you, we loved shinji, talented player...we just didn't put him in a position to succeed....and no doubt his best season was his first under SAF...then that twat moyes came in and well there ya go

But he was never going to start at AM over Rooney since you signed RVP. Hence not good enough for that position at United.

Sure that's fair, but can you really bench a player that makes 300k+ and is the face of a team (ie. Rooney)? No you can't.

Except we signed Kagawa right at the beginning of the window and RVP came at the end. We fought city for his signature once it became clear he wasn't staying at arsenal so we bought kagawa with full intentions of playing him in his preferred position but once van persie became available things changed.

He didn't play CAM every game.

That signing basically effed up Kagawa.
