gascoigne is insanely difficult as a newb tbh, music box can make the fight harder IMO, since he transforms more, just dodge a lot and stay close to him, use the gravestones.

His speed was the only annoying thing but he isn't that difficult if you use surroundings to your advantage. There is a reason why there are so many obstacles in that area.

In any case, ring the bell if you can't get through him.

@Firenze. How long did it take you for your 2nd run?

probably 2 hrs max, just sprinted through the areas to get to the bosses

you shouldn't even need two play-throughs, only reason I did is because you need to consume some items to get the secret ending and instead of keeping them in my inventory and backing up that save I had been using those items throughout the game as I got them, which automatically triggered an ending within an ending, inception style

Bosses seemed miles harder early on compared to now. Maybe I am too high level

Micolash, Host of the Nightmare is such a pos lol. Should be a guard somewhere instead of a boss.

M99 wrote:So here is my adventure so far.

I accidentally skipped the Cleric Beast at first. Went straight to the sewers. The fights there were amazing. The shotgun guys, the crows, the dead things in the water. Creepy but awesome. And to crown it al comes this giant hippo rofl I was so scared when he abruptly showed up. But fighting him was easy. The heavy attacks in this game are very OP. SO I got out of the sewers, fought a ogre and a couple of scrubs and then meet...Father Gascoigne. It was then I realized that I skipped the first boss. I gave him a good fight until he transformed into beast mode. Killed me and I lost all my blood echoes from the sewers Sad

Fought the Cleric Beast. Proud to say I beat him on my first try Proud I need to be extra careful in the sewers now. Need to get back my echoes from Gazza.

Any tricks to beat him guys? I'm reading in the internet something about a musical box which stops him from attacking? Where do you find it?

Same, didn't skip him but I went to the sewers before I fought the Cleric Beast. But I found 2 Insight down there and leveled up so that was cool.

The Music Box you get from some little girl in a window looking for her mother/father. Can't remember exactly where that is though.

Never played a Souls game before this, got my ass handed to me constantly before I finally beat the CB. I'm getting better though.

there's actually a glitch with some bosses currently, with them not using their full moveset, on first playthrough allmicolash did to me was punch me bare handed, but I saw people complaining about him online, then on NG+ he had his proper moveset and would spam some 1 hit KO magic attack if you give him space. The boss after him was also broken for me in NG+ only did one simple attack when in my first playthrough it had lots of gimmicks.

Think you're going to have to look up how fight some of the optional bosses, can be impossible to find without guides, but some of those are tough.

Micolash used all his moves. But some GOAT people leave helpful tips around in those notes. Said "close fighting is effective" Laughing which was true.

Level 99 now.

Think I will clear out the dungeons after both nightmare places are done. Nightmare of Mensis is done. Was not too bad after I levelled up a bit. Even beat 2 players. Both tried fighting with ludwigs blade but I R2 Axed them and they couldn't get near me lol.

my first play through i developed a strength build, using the axe mainly, but i came to love using the whip cane later in the game, so versatile.

Starting over to create a skill build so i can take advantage of that. Heard 2h Chikage with high bloodstinge is also the most powerful weapon in the game, although it consumes health

yeah I cleared all of the dungeons out before finishing the game, but you don't actually have to - the progress carries over into NG+ if you want to go there, all of the dungeons you've created and items you have stay the same, but I would finish them first personally because there are a couple of items you can only get in the nightmare of mensis and only the nightmare of mensis that you need to create one of the last dungeons.

I've heard that the Chikage is OP too Nick

I've stopped at lvl 130 now, thing is I love the Burial Blade (+10'd it) which you can get at the end of the game by making a certain choice, it has the GOAT moveset and looks good, it's not doing nearly as much damage as my ludwig's sword at +10 though which is disappointing, it doesn't scale as well, need to find some GOAT gems to make it a beast.

Some of the gems I have are insane. Got 200+ by gems alone.

I got what you meant by it's difficult to take +9 to +10. Apparently the drop rate for that last stone item is very very rare.

+10 item doesn't drop at all

there's a specific place it's hidden in the nightmare of mensis

you can also find it in some of the last dungeons in chests

I have a dungeon code where it's easy to get (but you can only use the code once you've got to that dungeon yourself) so I'm gonna replay it about 10 times later lol

I didn't really put much thought into my build

I wanted to stop at 120 but kept going to make the platinum as easy as possibly

I think I have 52 vitality ( wanted more than that even for the dungeon that halves your HP), 40 endurance (stops giving you more stamina at 40 so pointless ever upgrading past that) 30 STR (for the cannon) 25 skill, 21 or 22 Bloodtinge and 8 Arcane. Lvl 130.

RG you wouldn't have missed it, it's in a secret area but it takes like 60 seconds to get to from the lamp after you defeat micolash, it's just well hidden

think this was the boss that killed me the most in the game

I'm guessing it's the second Undead Giant though? the one with insane HP that can 1 shot you when it does a spinarooni like Booker T with the wrecking balls on it's back that fills up half the arena? took me like 20 attempts no lie, but only like 2 when I got to a decent level and played it safe as hell, literally only ever attacked it when it gave a big opening, stayed miles away from it until then + bolt paper, the tumor on it's hip grows back a couple of times if you wait so you can break that for massave damage

Yea that's the one. Got him to 30% 3 times but he is the most difficult boss I've faced so far without a doubt. Accurate and kills with 1 or 2 shots. Tried 8 times now.

I heard fire is effective but it's not working for me lol.

Might change my runes to boost HP and attack and level once or twice.

Found blood rock via that hidden place in Mensis

Now the question is whether I upgrade my Axe to +10 or wait for blade of Mercy to drop and fully upgrade that hmm

Leaning towards the axe since that's my primary weapon.
