I wouldnt call 6.75m a year for Thomas as overpaying.

He is a near 20 point scorer and in terms of advanced stats, he is comparable to Kyrie Irving.

He is small and plays suspect D because of it, plus he is a little dribble happy..but like I said, not even 7m a year.

The TWolves are probably drooling at the thought of Mirotic (that Euro core of Pek-Rubio-Mirotic), a pick and say Gibson.

They probably don't get it done without Gibson, but if i'm the Bulls i do everything i can to keep Gibson.

For all the offense you add by getting Gasol and Love, the athleticism and defense you lose could be just as impactful.

But if you keep Gibson, thats him, Love, Pau and Joakim. Not enough minutes to go around.

I would rather keep Gibson than adding Pau (if Love comes) but Pau is already there so its too late.

Also, Gibson the only contract big enough to make it work. Butler still on his rookie deal.

Do agree on the minutes thing, i'm just thinking about the bigs rotation and aside from Noah in this instance there's really none which are that good defensively.

They would have basically just flipped the script. Gone from a lockdown defensive team who had scoring problems, to a in theory at least a free scoring team who has troubles defending.

From that starting 5 the only one who you could consider great defensively is Butler(outside of Noah), Thibs is a fantastic coach but that's a big ask to expect Rose-Butler-Dunleavy-Love-Noah to produce the goods defensively.

I agree, Love and Pau...thats going to get destroyed.

And really, only Noah and Butler going to be able to do anything defensively. 2 cant hold together all 5.

I guess they would do everything to limit the time Love and Pau play together only to the 2nd unit.

Somewhere between 10-16 Noah less minutes.

I think they could of sort fix the issue if they get a defensive wing.

It doesn't complete solve the problem but it at least gives Butler/Hinrich some help on the perimeter.

But i doubt they have the cash to do that, i heard some rumours the other day about Marion but think he gets paid more than the money that's being talked about ( i.e. Lakers 2.7m exception)

LeBron goes back to Cleveland = most marketable player goes back to his hometown team, the team he walked away from four years ago. A city who hasn't won a professional sports championship in 50 years. Viewership, revenue all go up. Why wouldn't the NBA rig the lottery?

doesnt Love hold all the power in this? i mean, if he tells Boston or the bulls he is not resigning because he wants to join lebron, wouldnt all those offers get off the table? who is his agent? they can strong arm minnie into dealing only with the cavs

Until GS is offering Thompson, Boston has the 2nd best offer imo. Not just Smart, Young or Olynyk but picks for days. The unprotected Brooklyn picks, our own picks, Clippers 1st, Cavs 1st, Philly protected 1st.

Well if Kevin Love came out and said that, the Cavs would probably take Wiggins out of the offer. Kills Minny's leverage.

Because I think he would bes simply bluffing to try and move where he wants.

Once he gets to Chicago and plays with a better team that the Cavs would be, he would resign despite his bluster. Especially given his zero playoff to this point vs what the Bulls would do with him. Love aint leaving a team which goes to the finals (as the Bulls very well might with him)...even to play with Lebron.

Whats his next option after that? Cavs cant just pick him up in FA without him taking a major paycut. It wouldnt be like Miami, Lebron and Kyrie getting taking up more cap than any of that big 3, plus Varejao on like 8m.

They could do that but it's definitely a risk. With the bigger cap in 2015 and 2016, he'll probably opt out regardless, even just to get more from Chicago.

so that's 61.5m right there of the expected ~66m cap. However if LeBron opts out, they are at 40m, you can sign Love starting at 17 or so, and then go over to re-sign LeBron(possibly even avoiding lux tax before min deals)
