If you ask me, its too much for a 27 year old striker (will be closing in on 28 by the time he allowed to play) who has a history like his.

His value is more than 80m (Bale).

And please don't buy him if age is an issue.

Personally I don't care though. € 20M overpaid? What of it? Is Barca going bankrupt? That's the frontline sorted for half a decade at least. Sometimes for quality like Suarez you overpay.

Ibra was better than Suarez when he joined Barcelona and was a total failure. The same Villa at his best was level suarez and Barcelona got him for 40€ and barely could play 2 years at his best, and as a winger. Messi is their target man, do you really think Messi will play again as a right winger when he walks most of time on the field? Barcelona bought the best striker in the world nowadays to play him in the right flank.

Ibra and Suarez have nothing in common. Ibra like Messi is a playmaking striker who likes to drop, provide little mobility and off the ball movement and dictate the game in the final third with passes where others do the running for him. With Messi in the middle he didn't get this freedom. This wouldn't have even been the biggest problem. Players can adapt if they want, work hard, sacrifice (although in Ibra's case it was probably never gonna work given his physical traits). But Ibra's ego didn't allow him to. I don't know what Pep saw in Ibra. Or if it was even his own signing. With his size and lack of mobility he was never going to suit the Barca game which is all about mobility and movement. Instead of Messi maybe where the team is built around him. Alongside? Never.

Villa is a bad example. In 10/11 he was part of the most dominant Barca side ever, scoring goals in the most one-sided Clasico ever, scoring in the CL final and overall fitting very well. Who cares that his scoring rate dropped a little compared to his Valencia days when he was playing centrally? Ultimately he made Barca a better team. In 11/12 he broke his leg and came back in his 30s. Different story.

Suarez? How does he not fit? Can play everywhere in the front 3 positions, mobile, moves, works like a dog. Will he score 31 goals in La Liga like he did for Liverpool? I doubt it. He'll sacrifice a bit of his game. Does that mean Barca will be worse off? You wish. lol

Best position for Suarez at Barca would be CF, with Messi in behind and Alves/the RB providing width. Suarez would then track back as a RW when they're defending.

For the people saying "He should be worth more than Bale." I'm interested in seeing how much of Suarez's image rights Barca will get. Madrid get 50% of Bale's and he is one of the main faces of Adidas, stuff like that has value. Not to mention we are paying for Bale in yearly installments.

The feasibility of the deal was what made the Bale signing happen. You even had guys like Rummingge saying how well Madrid set up this transfer. Of course whether Bale himself can justify the fee on the field needs to be proven over the next coming years but he has had a great start.

As for Barca's situation, you have three players who are best with the ball at their feet and only one player who always gets his way no matter what. Except unlike before one of the other two is a nutcase and is liable to do anything when frustrated. lol
