Who will advance to the semi-finals?
Re: Quarter-Final: Brazil vs Colombia
Luiz could play in DM with Dante as CB

Assuming Neymar can't make it of course.
yes ok that's true, and I wasn't meaning to imply it won't be a tough game for Brazil

Re: Quarter-Final: Brazil vs Colombia
Oscar has played way too many games and been overused too much in the last 2.5 years, practically played non stop was always going to catch up to him.
Hopefully Willian gets some game time whilst Oscar can rest up.

Re: Quarter-Final: Brazil vs Colombia
Is Hulk that impossibly bad playing upfront or why can't that happen?
Because Hulk+Fred just seems like too much a blackhole for creativity and teamplay, why not Hulk upfront with Neymar Willian Oscar behind, then Fernandinho and Luiz behind that.
Or just put Ramires in for Fernandinho and tell them to do whatever Jose said

I thought Alves was good today tbh, Marcelo and Luiz were a lot worse.
Although it must be said he's been shite in every other game.

Agreed with this. Thought he was great today but has indeed been under par in other Brazil games.
Really hoping Colombia can do it. Love watching this team play. If Neymar doesn't play I think I would even give the edge to Colombia.

Marcelo is so much more of a liability to Brazil than Alves

With no Gustavo in the next game i think we are about to find out how bad the defence actually is
Does an amazing amount of work to protect that back 4.

Who is set to start instead of Gustavo? Luis moved up or Paulinho/Hernanes?

it was actually a serious question: does putting Luiz in DM not come up as a possibility in that situation?

Re: Quarter-Final: Brazil vs Colombia
I think this Brazil team has serious psychological problems - the two creative outputs, Neymar and Oscar, are too young to have developed the skills to cope with so much pressure.
I see them beating Colombia unconvincingly and then going out against Germany.

Can't see Scolari doing that, he's usually loath to drastic changes.
I really wouldn't be surprised to see no changes outside Ramires for Gustavo.

On top of being a meh generation these mofos are unbelievably sensitive.WTF is this bull of crying before the game, crying during the anthem.I was shocked when I saw TS before the pens, our *bleep* captain had his head down and was crying.Cesar too.TS should lose his captaincy after today.
It's fine when you go completely emotional after the game like Luiz,Nerman and Gustavo, but this is way too much.

Re: Quarter-Final: Brazil vs Colombia
I think the only team that can stop Germany is France. So if they are somehow getting past France in the quarters then it wouldn't matter which of Brazil/Colombia gets to semis. IMO

Re: Quarter-Final: Brazil vs Colombia
Credit to Luiz, Marcelo and Nerman especially. Those three took some clutch penalties under huge pressure.
I think Brazil will use the Chile game as a launching pad. Nothing makes a team believe that it's meant to be more than a penalty shootout win.

Re: Quarter-Final: Brazil vs Colombia
Nah Germany are horrible imbalanced, a lot of the teams favoured to go through can beat them.
They are not the 2010 or 2012 Germans who rightly were one of favourites, this time they have clear issues.
Although note i said can beat them, tournament is open as hell there legimately is at least half a dozen teams who can win it IMO.

Re: Quarter-Final: Brazil vs Colombia
As long as Höwedes is in there, every team with a decent right winger can beat us, and that includes Colombia lol.
But I would still feel that right now both us and France should win against Brazil, however that's maybe 53-47 instead of 50-50
Getting past France at this moment seems like a steeper hill to me..

Re: Quarter-Final: Brazil vs Colombia
You guys don't seem to understand the amount of pressure on this Brazil team, especially with the protests going on around the entire country. Never seen players with this amount of pressure on their shoulders in my life.
Silva needs to lose his captaincy after this tournament ends by the way. His whole demeanor today was shocking to see, reminded me of Gallas at Birmingham a couple of years ago. Luiz and Nerman are the two true leaders of this team anyway so it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Re: Quarter-Final: Brazil vs Colombia
The biggest problem with this Brazil team is the forwards aren't doing their jobs correctly. Hulk, Jo & Fred have been anything but clinical so far. The game should have been over in the 1st half but time after time they failed to take their chances. It isn't fair for a 22 year old kid to have the goalscoring pressure on his shoulders.
Scolari probably needs to lessen Oscar's defensive assignments and workrate because he would be a better option than those scrubs at this point. Your attacking midfielder can't be averaging the most tackles on the team. He's being forced to do too much.
