Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
This manager has better players available than Conte had. Ventura has no charisma and not only effectively lacks intellect, he looks the part of someone lacking intellect. I am doubtful that Italy will get the World Cup next year, but if they do, they will drop out in the group stage.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
I think Barzagli got injured.
I'm reading something like this:
Buffon; Spinazzola, Chiellini, Bonucci, Darmian; Gagliardini, Parolo; Insigne, Immobile, Eder, Candreva
Hopefully they woke up and play properly.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
The funny thing, Albanian fans are writing on a Facebook page (in Italian) say that they are excited to finally see the Italian National team in person. They don't realize that they can actually win this game with the team Ventura has out there. As I said, the guy is a dummy. A two man midfield with two inexperienced players and only one barely decent is a formula for defeat.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
Eder starting in 2017
Candreva will shatter the crossing record tonight
I saw rumours of Bernardeschi starting, knew it wouldn't happen

I can see an Albanian late goal winning this one. One of the worst Italian teams I've ever seen.

Italy very lucky. 3 shots on target and one is a goal. Albania has had 6 I think.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
I think Sweden is one of the better draws we could have, i feared either of the other three options would be a very nail biting 180 mins of Catenaccio
Praying to the gods that ibra decides to stay retired
however, a serious Italy team would be nice for a change
Ventura will not do that, but i want to see this team with a healthy mid and defence at least for the tie
if we bottle this i dont know what ill do
Save us Immobile

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
Would have been a formality to qualify if the coach wasn't Mr. Clueless himself, now there is a little suspense. Without too many injuries and with the proper formation (which is 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1), Italy is far above. Like Giovanni said, be serious for once and everything should be ok.
Greece was the worst scenario.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
With some players back I wish (and hope) that Ventura will go back to a reliable system and play something like a 3-4-3 inistead of a 4-2-4.
There will be not much time to test new things like the 4-3-3, so go with a system that has the most players in familiar roles as they play in the clubs.
Bonucci in the middle of a back 3, Insigne as a forward, Immobile as lone CF, Spinazzola as a wing back, etc.
Buffon; Chiellini, Bonucci, Barzagli; Spinazzola, De Rossi, Verratti, Florenzi; Insigne, Immobile, Candreva
Darmian could be in for either wingback.
They should be able to win this.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
I think the only good part is that in contrast with the other 3 teams we could have faced, Sweden will actually come to play against Italy. Historically, we elevate our level when we play decent teams.
I'm fully expecting a 4-2-4 away to Sweden with a dominant 2-1 loss, then a 1-0 win in Italy. The stuff of dreams.
We can win but this is a tough match and I wouldn't be surprised at all if we do lose. If we carry on from the group, then we absolutely will lose.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
I think historically we elevate ourselves (or lower) to any team, be it gibraltar or spain we will pay close attention to their style and know that going into the game
See Cyrpus-Italy 4-3 or more recently the macedonia and albania series
But then also remember how we played very well against many teams in the euro
I honestly did not want Greece or the two Irish contestants, all three of them would press the hell out of us and esp. greece would sit back just like we would. Sweden is fair and i think that if they hold out in the first leg then it will be easy business in Milan
