Same for me, I just wrote it on the final thread.

Chiellini's postmatch interview was perfect. Exact words I feel as a fan watching him play: "I was lucky to play with Buffon, now I play with Donnarumma and its the same" "We felt the magic, we saw the image of Cannavaro holding the cup..."

The star of the match winners by UEFA

3-0 Turkey - Spinazzola
3-0 Switzerland - Locatelli
1-0 Wales - Chiesa (should have been Verratti imo)
2-1 Austria  Spinazzola
2-1 Belgium - Insigne
1-1 Spain - Chiesa
1-1 England - Bonucci

This was one of most beautiful NTs, trophy is the perfect mark on it

Relevant thing : one of  NTs mostly rapresentatived of the league  , there was not a block of a team , basically every Serie A team had his player/players

Yes, except Bonucci-Chiellini partnership there was a one-club link in the team. Links across clubs, like Insigne-Verratti-Immobile, from playing in Pescara in Serie B to winning the euros together. Loved when they took their picture together at the end.

The understanding of Bonucci, Chiellini, Jorginho, Barella, Verratti, Insigne is like they play in the same club.

What a legacy-defining trophy for Mancini as well.

It feels like his work at Inter and City was rendered obsolete and largely forgotten as a result of what these teams went on to accomplish after him.

That probably explains the absolute joy and subsequent tears that was on his face. It does feel his club successes have been largely forgotten but this, this may be his finest moment yet.

Though his back heel goal from a corner still remains his crowning moment imo.

If his City win is forgotten (to which is not) it would be tragic but he helped created the entire base for what City has become be it internal to philosophical changes and lets be honest did it in the hardest era of their wins, with far less gifted players and against SAF's United.

How good is Raspadori? He was in the squad and didnt feature right?

Is it possible we see him more moving forward?

If Italy dont win here, I think alot of questions would have come up in terms of Immobile and I dont think Belotti is the solution either.

This Raspadori is a young guy and I wonder, if he, alongside guys like Zaniolo, Calabria, Sensi and Pellegrini are around to chose from, all of whom im lead to believe are very good players and Zaniolo I have seen first hand...its one hell of a squad potentially.

Mancini did not trust him. But eventually he has no choice to evaluate his young players at CF position, the opportunities will come

In WC 2022 i would expect Raspadori, Kean, Zaniolo, Pellegrini will be in the squad

Central defense will be the question mark, that pair is old and few prospects available. Bastoni and Toloi will remain there, unless you rate Romagnoli which i don't

Chiesa-Kean-Zaniolo
Locatelli-Jorginho-Barella
Spinazzola-Chiellini-Bonucci-Calabria
Donnarumma

Raspadori is very very early. Getting called up to the euros was unexpected, but Mancini is always looking towards the youth, he played vs Wales. That spot was Kean's but he lost it in training and friendlies in the run up to the tournament. Raspadori started making space for himself last season in Sassuolo and this one he was already a regular. Then he played the U21 euros and went straight to the senior euros.

He would need a big season to be a protagonist for the WC. His time is probably for the next euros and forward.

Sensi, Pellegrini, and Zaniolo were all in the team but missed the euros due to injury. A big shame but it worked out for us luckily. They'll be back in contention as long as they are fit. Zaniolo obviously is in the team if his knees work again.

Calabria will also likely take Florenzi's spot.

There can't be too many changes for the next WC. It's only a year and this team are champions. For the future though there are enough players to be optimistic about.

Man that is insane to imagine how much better it would have been with Zaniola Pellegrini and Sensi.

Yes their positions were covered but my heart rate always suffered to the drop of quality from the subs compared to the first XI players.

I saw the Wales game, must have forgot he came on.

It does seem too early for him based on what you have said there, but Immobile/Belotti is a concern also. I think there is an opportunity there if someone can grab it.

I agree, wouldnt make sense to make many changes. Not to a champion team. But I do think as Arq is saying, there is a little drop in quality from the first 11 to the bench.

The one to take that opportunity next year imo can likely only be Moise Kean. I hope he has a big season and does well for Mancini so that he can become a reliable option for Italy ASAP.

There is a drop in quality in some positions. Particularly:

Immobile to Belotti (for as much as Immobile didn't score he at least played better than Belotti and had some key matches)

Insigne to Bernardeschi. This is the biggest one imo, of course it should be Zaniolo next year.

Jorginho to anyone. We don't have a replacement for him at the moment.

For the rest we saw how Di Lorenzo and Emerson filled in nicely enough for Florenzi a Spinazzola. I would say that Di Lorenzo is better than Florenzi too. Locatelli filled in nicely for Verratti, and Pessina for Barella. Chiesa vs Berardi is a great pair to have too.

Sensi can play Jorginho's role better than anyone else probably. For that position I hope for Rovella to take over after Jorginho.

Excluding the most senior 11, basically the starters coming into these euros. We could have this as next year's options.
Chiesa - Kean - Zaniolo
Pessina - Sensi - Locatelli
Dimarco - Bastoni - Mancini - Calabria

With those spots contested depending on their seasons played.

This home tie against Bulgaria is very ugly
Switzerland are virtually as first in the group
Are we risking again to be out of World Cup, Rincon ?

Those were all called up in the last team except for Caputo.

Kean scored twice against Lithuania, Calabria played, don't remember if Dimarco did, Lazzarri got injured.

Yeah passed the record, should make first too. Switzerland needs to win their two matches in hand to be level, and then the direct match would be in Italy. Its unlikely that Switzerland will win 4 matches in a row including Italy in Italy.
