rwo, Switzerland can't meet Spain before the semi. Are you suggesting the Swiss will make it that far?

alfred, Argentina vs. Portugal is likely but such is the jinx of an Argentina vs. Germany happening that maybe somehow Germany will come 2nd and face us.

If it happens I can't see Belgium get the better of Portugal. Experience and know how counts a lot in such situations.

But having Spain and Switzerland meet might be interesting nonetheless.

Switzerland can go quite far in this tournament if they finish 1st of their group because they will probably meet Nigeria (I think they can do it) but problems come in quarter final because they will most likely meet Germany which is one of the favourites.
If they finish 2nd, it will be way harder because Argentina is a beast, they won't let their place.

Argentina and Portugal have always had good attacks over many years. Thats very true....especially in todays football getting more and more cautious and defensively tight as a team.

Im not sure about Portugal being weak in defense though, I think they have a good defense, their midfilders also protect well. Their problem more so have been problem up front without having a top class striker and Ronaldo often trying to do it alone.

As it stands Netherlands should meet Italy in the quarter final and that should be some clash between two of the best teams at WC 2014.

Im not sure why but not 1 team have really impressed me yet. More like just performing as they should, or underperforming, or just disappointing. Bit early to tell still but a lot of teams showing weaknesses already. I had thought Brazil and Argentina as the top 2 favourites, but nwo Im not sure any more.

I agree, it's very hard to know who is going to win this cup, Brazil is disappointing so far, Argentina got into trouble against Bosnia, Spain is out of this tournament, Uruguay lost against Costa Rica.
Germany played very well against Portugal, I think they're the biggest favourite, Netherlands is also on the right track.
France, Italia, Chile, England are the main rank outsiders, most of them played quite good in their first game.
Then there can be surprises like Croatia or Switzerland (even though Switzerland didn't impress against Ecuador).

Argentina still have to prove . The Dutch for instance are better right now. The two teams are quite imilar imo but the Dutch's strikers are already on fire and don't look like they won't keep being so.
Whereas this so called '' terrific striking force '' Argentina got is very dependant of Messi and Di Maria. i just feel like Aguro won't do that great. Hopefully i'm wrong.

Belgium anyone? Im skeptical as always. I thought Algeria is no scrubs but they were too defensive and felt like just kept inviting Belgium onto them.... Belgium if they gain confidence and moments as the tournament progresses, they need to beat Portugal/USA next round then Argentina Razz

This is very true and I agree it. Although Aguero at Man City have won me over. The first game though he seems just like his old self. So hopefully he can discover his Man C form vs Iran Smile

Yes absolutely, but it's early still. I could well imagine Argentina and Italy getting better and better, and then their chances might be substantially better.
Also even if they weren't impressive at all, of course you can't count out Brazil.
