Teo should really move to Europe. He's definitely better than Jackson Martinez.

Re: World Cup: Group C discussion
3-0 win for Serie A.
Mario Yepes has got to be one of the most underrated centrebacks of the last 10 years. He was world class in Paris, a rock for Chievo and highly underrated for Milan.
For Columbia he has been an absolute wall since receiving the armband in 2007; his leadership so vital. 38 years old and still reliable coming off a solid year in For Atalanta. Warrior.

Re: World Cup: Group C discussion
Milan players in this world cup
First De Jong. Bossed.
Then Zapata . Wouldn't say bossed , it's Greece they played , but did extremely well coming from a poor season , mostly.
After that Balotelli , good game overall and even scored the winning goal.
Now Honda opens the score against Ivory Coast.

Very good match. Drogba changed the game when he came on. Such a legend. However with the way Japan started, they should have scored another goal. They underperformed with the talented players they have.

Re: World Cup: Group C discussion
Felt sad for japan....I thought they deserved a draw atleast. The second goal was so fast they could not reorganize. also i put more blame on their keeper for that goal. No doubt its a nice goal but felt keeper could have saved it specially when he reached to the ball in time. I always thought keeper is their weekest link. i never liked their keeper.
It will be difficult for them now to move next round...though they lost to the strongest team in the group. i dont think Colombia is better than Ivory coast.

Re: World Cup: Group C discussion
Japan seem to suffer from an inferiority complex. They are a highly disciplined team (trying not to base that on stereotype).. although admirable in a way, sometimes I think this can be to their detriment. They don't seem to complain to the referee, ark up at opposition or show any real sign of passion or fight in them.
I felt like they let a defensively poor and disorganised ivory coast get back into the game.. And they are a side with individuals who can hurt you if you allow them time and space. Japan should be really disappointed with this result as they looked like the far more competent side for the majority of the game.

What talented players lol? they have Honda and Kagawa that's it.
Its like when people said Croatia should dominate Brazil because they have a gifted midfield, means f*ck all when the other guys are average.
Ivory Coast have a much more talented team.
Anyway Bony Not worth 12m according to Pardew's infinite wisdom

Re: World Cup: Group C discussion
Ivory Coast completely dominated Japan. It should & could have been won by a 3 goal margin at the very least and I'm not exaggerating.
I can guarantee Serey Die will be signed by a PL club after this tournament. Excellent performance.
Aurier, Boka were the two of best players on the field along with him and Bamba. Tiote was also suprisngly good, they kept giving the ball to him under severe pressure and he dealt with it exceptionally well.
Drogba was MoTM though. Just his sheer presence on the field lifted his teammates game and scared the shit out of Japan's defenders. Also held the ball up incredibly well and saw out the game. Very unlucky not to score as too.

Re: World Cup: Group C discussion
I don't know why its surprising Tiote can deal with the ball under pressure.
When he's motivated and concentrated he hardly ever gives the ball away, this entire last season i can't remember more than 5 times when he was careless with the ball lol.
Think i remember reading he was top 5 in the league in passes completed iirc, his problem is you don't have to worry about him as an offensive threat so you can just ignore him.
But its very rare when he's a liability in possession as long as i said he's motivated and concentrated.

Why aren't you playing out from the back more if you have the Ivorian Busquets on your team then?

you said it. I also felt this after watching the game. May be the sheer physicality of the Ivorians kept them from playing their game, or at least scared them to play their game. Always mispassing and gifting them balls. And I am sure they arent this bad, today they were totally off even after going behind their counters were suspicious and slow.
Where as whenever they went forward the elephants defence was way susceptible to conceding as well. Its just that they didnt go forward the way they should have.
And I dont think their coach is good enough for them. He is too old school, and defence minded. Clearly a style which cant suit this Japanese team. And with him at the helm its looking unlikely they will recover in the next two games and progress.
So even though cote d'ivoire being nothing special they will finish second in this group I now believe behind Columbia.

Re: World Cup: Group C discussion
I wonder if Pekerman is going to re use the same starting 11 against Ivory Coast.
My only changes would be to maybe include Arias as our starting RB and bring on Bacca or Ramos over Jackson and see what happens. I don't see Zuniga having a solid game against Ivory Coast, it was noted in several games during our qualifying that his defending is quite poor when up against quick attackers.
