Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
So the world cup's most hyped team meets the world cup's least hyped team and they play out a draw.
Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
France in Euro 1984 was facing incredible pressure too. It was in France, Platini was the best player in the world and they had destroyed every team since WC1982 where they had finished 4th.

But in the 1980s there were never this much media internet coverage and exposure.
This Brazil NT is definetly under more pressure than any football team from the past

Little Croatia looks to progress from the group. Great, I like this team.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
Croatia and Mexico will be a very close game IMO, should be expecting Croatia's superior talent to hold out but it won't be easy at all.
Can't believe i'm saying this but Mexico have impressed me enough to give them that respect.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
I think if not for a very poor showing from the official in the first match Croatia would top this group. It doesn't matter though...none of these teams will beat Netherlands/Chile.

Mexico's team chemistry has been really impressive, imo, at times it's been almost like they think with one collective brain, the way they pass and move smartly.
I've got a bet going which makes me wish Croatia win, but if I had to put money on the game now, I think I'd actually go with Mexico.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
Mexico will have a big crowd at the game... it will be a home game for them and an away game for Croatia. That alone gives Mexico a big advantage.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
Teams like the Netherlands are choke artists. the
world cup isn't the CL where the 5 zeros and 7
zeroes matter much. the knock out round are an
entire proposition altogether!.. tipping Brazil to
bring their 'A' game to the knock out stages. I
usually fear teams that never start out too well in
group stages but still are able to grind out results
regardless. if history is anything to go by Neymar
would boss the knock out stages. just like the
libertadores, confederations cup, and Olympics
(regardless of the fact that Brazil didn't win). just
like romario and Ronaldo Lima. always
underwhelming in the group stages, in fact Ronaldo
had just one goal in the group stages in 98 with a
group involving morocco, scotland, and Norway
(even with a far more talented team than this
current one). Buh alas he was still the player of
that tournament. guys like neymar know how to
turn it up at the right moment (sometimes all it
requires is just one moment of memmerizing
brilliance, and who else could be better for that
kind of mojo?)...this squad is very young so let's
cut them some slack. i also believe in oscar
and..wait for it FRED. Brazil to knock the
Netherlands out of the WC. you heard it here first.

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
Cameroon have always been disappointing. Didnt they refuse to board the plane to the WC becos they wanted more money or something? If true its really pathetic, even more so after their performances. They never have enough structure and teamwork, play like individuals.... but then a lot of Adrican teams are just like this.

Because swapping shirts is too mainstream.

Fred keeping his place in the XI is a shame. Jo looked much better.
Anyway, come on, Croatia...

Re: World Cup: Group A discussion
We've been pretty awful. Especially our nonexistent midfield. With the exception of Luis Gustavo it doesn't provide creativity nor protection for the defense.
Neymar though
