Not sure what the purpose of this thread is (very tempted to move it to the Madrid section or at least merge it with that Mourinho thread), but it is typically not wise to use Wikipedia as your source when trying to prove a point.
Just sayin'.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti Fan Club
we all talk about carlo's father figure approach to the game and his squad; i'm thinking much of that has to do with him playing for fabio capello, at milan. capello, a great coach but could take things a tad bit far; he believed players and coaches should never be friends (an opposite of carlo, gattuso once said when he had problems with his wife, the first guy he called was ancelotti).
capello's man management of stars has often been called into question as well; his handling of ronaldo (the original at madrid), publicly calling him fat and out of shape (which in truth, ronaldo was, but u don't blast ure players in public like that), would have been handled differently by capello. when ronaldo moved to milan we saw a resurgence in his football under ancelotti, who boosted his confidence, until he got that horrific injury...again. even rivaldo who was constantly benched by ancelotti was never berated nor really had anything bad to say about carlo.....carlo in his book even criticized capello saying he had no dialogue with his players.
both great coaches with opposite methods; long term, carlo's methods may be suitable for his players as he projects calm and serenity, capello's dictatorship style is good for pushing the team harder and probably a major part of his league success record (a league title at every club he has coached), but difficult to sustain long term, probably why he never spent long at any of his clubs besides roma, and even with them, they did go through some poor results at times (and juve cos of calciopolli)
obviously even in styles, capello's teams were more conservative/defensive (nothing wrong with that imo), but at times it came back to bite him like when he set formation up at madrid to hold bayern nil nil for a whole 90 mins only for makaay to score in 11 seconds, ancelotti seems to prefer offense but will resort to defensive measures if he feels the need to......this just an observation of mine, i feel he took things he didn't like from a great coach in capello, and built his own philosophy taking that into consideration....and NO capello is definitely NOT responsible for ancelotti's successes (but if he was mourinho, i bet people would heap that praise on him)

Re: Carlo Ancelotti Fan Club
Ancelotti said: “There is no manager in their career that is not sacked. [Alex] Ferguson was sacked, [Marcelo] Lippi sacked, [Fabio] Capello sacked, [Jose] Mourinho sacked, [Rafa] Benitez.
“The only one not sacked is Guardiola but he’s still really young.
“He has plenty of time. One day he will come into our club, the Sack Club.
“At Chelsea I won the double. Sacked. At Real Madrid I won ‘La Decima’. Sacked.
“They appoint me for being calm. Then they sack me and say ‘too calm’.
“One of my favourite sayings is from The Godfather. It’s not personal, it’s strictly business.”

What a legend
For what it's worth he didn't deserve to get sacked at Madrid.

yes he did i know being anti-madrid is great all, carlo made a lot of basic mistakes like zero rotation and getting the best out of 1 player instead of the team.

Hope he does well at Bayern. He didnt deserve the sacking. He is probably the only coach we have had that will be welcomed with open arms if he came back
Not sure about best in the world, Simeone has done something anazing with Atleti since he started coaching them. But he is definitely up there

Re: Carlo Ancelotti Fan Club
How convenient to ignore the fact that Carlo's stubbornness to play only 12 players resulted in team burnout at end of both of his two seasons here. If you measure a coach's success by only the starting 11, then he would surely be at or near the top. But the evaluations are done on the entire team (and season). He is a very good coach, but you can't ignore his huge flaw that resulted in no liga two years in a row and one CL. It was a same he was sacked, esp. when there didn't seem to be a viable alternative, but a coach of an elite team is accountable for results, in the same manner that a CEO is accountable for a corporation's results.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti Fan Club
To be fair it's not like at Madrid the coach has full autonomy to pick the starting eleven, and he finished 2 points behind in his "failed" season
If you had at least gone for a manager that was undoubtedly better then perhaps it would be the right call, but you went for Benitez and then Zidane. Explain to me how you are better today than you would be if Ancelotti had stayed?

Re: Carlo Ancelotti Fan Club
Well, I'll agree about Benitez, but too early to tell about Zidane. Getting us to CL final, whether we win or not, particularly after what he inherited and in only half a season, it's not bad, and he may yet equal Carlo's result in only a half season!!! Not bad for a rookie interim coach.
It is too bad that Carlo was let go, but let's not ignore his damaging flaws and pretend that he is the best coach out there. He is good, I will say that.

He also had the easiest CL final run-up in history, Carlo would have undoubtedly delivered Real to the same place.
You're acting like Carlo is a good coach but there are many more like him around, when in reality I struggle to think of 5 that could possibly be considered better than him (Pep, Allegri, Simeone... Ranieri? Mou?)
