Yes. If it was so simple every manager would be utilising it effectively. Very few actually do.

Re: Mourinho should retire
But they do though. It's just usually football managers play to win, rather than play not to lose.

If Rodgers had played not to lose Liverpool would still be favourites for the league.

We defended well. didn't park the bus.
What is park the bus then?
my question exactly. People seem to associate not having the majority of possession with PTB which is not true. Atleti play like this against relegation scrubs even, it does not make their football PTB at all
I think what I would call parking is a team that has no intention of scoring and instead sending long balls towards a target man up top and hope they can score a lucky goal

Re: Mourinho should retire
Forget about the tactics etc this guy has been winding up alot of respected managers and off course insulting the FA and other governing bodies.
He is a prime example of a modern day hypocrite.
Some of his statements are not good for football at all like sarcastic statements against refree's etc.
Its best for football in general if he doesn't win anymore.
Brendan Rodgers rightly said yesterday its not difficult to coach 10 players to defend the 18 yard box. I doubt mourinho would ever be able to manage a team like barcelona, bayern, dortmund and arsenal.
But one thing is for sure now every team in the world knows what chelsea are and how predictable mourinho is.

Are you pointing this out as a criticism? If so, then do you not like his tactics because A) They are predictable and/or B) They do not promote good football (as you'd think of it as)?

Re: Mourinho should retire
He is a *bleep* mourinho works for his own self not for the team.
He has no long term perspective and talking shit about other managers.
He got a taste of his own medicine. His line up today was just a double decker bus

I find it hilarious that consistently making semifinals is somehow considered a bad thing here.

Mou destroyed teams he never created one if he truly a great manager he should go to stoke and make them win and with a budget of less than 20 mil pounds

Puts things into perspective.
Both Mou and Pep have lost more semi's than they have won. However the fact that they reach the semis with such consistency is somewhat impressive.
Having said that, there is no semi final trophy

it is a bad thing when every single one of the teams you're coaching expects you to reach the final, if not win it, and gives you the resources to do so...

Noone has won more than 2 times except Paisley and maybe Ancelotti (we'll see) . Even SAF didn't win it more than 2 in his career ... So it is nonsense anyway tbh

I agree, Chelsea can still qualify for the CL finals if they win the third leg next week...jibers wrote:McAgger wrote:Schurrle - £18.7m

He ain't winning shit this season. It's as good as over for him.
Plus it doesn't matter if it's your first. You spend more than £100m you are expected to deliver.
