Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V10
I'm just defending the heroes of Liverpool FC from unjustified, unfair and jealous attacks, while displaying Giroud's backside for everyone to see.
Nothing wrong with that.

If / most likely when Hull will lose the FA cup final, it's not guaranteed they are going to win their Europa League 3rd round qualifier. Should win, but if they draw a decent team, might not make it to the group stage.

But even Arsenal fans on here have now resorted to Mourinho's whining line, completely counterfactual, especially if you consider how well their league has been going since they're out of the CL
Not really, our league form dropped well before our CL matches with Bayern. Not that the fixtures have anything to do with our league performance anyways.

No, you're bending the 'facts' to fit your narrative. When you faced Chelsea you had a whole week to rest and prepare, and were out of the CL already. Didn't help.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V10
It's all good. let people make excuses and convince themselves otherwise.
I remember back in February when I suggested we'll go on a long winning run, everyone said I am a typical deluded Liverpool fan, no way it's happening. Then it was apparently Man Utd bottling it, and getting lucky vs. Cardiff. Then it was apparently referee cs. west ham and we were gonna get found out vs. bigger teams (ala City and Chelsea). well one down ,one to go. Keep making excuses it's nice.
If it's so easy to challenge for the title with no European games, why hasn't a SINGLE team since Everton in 83-84 season done that in the league? Ye,Why? exactly, because it's a shit excuse out of the mouth of the biggest scumbag on earth since Hitler ala Mourinho. We've flushed a lot of turds at Anfield this season, and that classless terrible human being with his horrible football team, who has a history of bottling it at Anfield in big occasions, will be the last victims.
Can't wait for that game already, it's on weekend of my birthday.
but yea, apparently we're due a loss/imploding/lucky/shit/no fatigue/lucky with injuries etc etc.

Yeah well, had we not bottled the second leg against you, or had our man Highburied stayed banned, we all would've been spared Giroud's glamour shot.

Wait, so people seriously think not being in Europe is worth 4 places in the league table in benefits? That's quite a bold statement.

It depends on who wins the FA Cup. If Arsenal finish 5th and win the FA Cup, that opens up a Europa League spot for 7th and rules out Hull.
Noooo, Arsenal would have to finish outside of the European places (7th) for Hull not to get into the EL (3rd quali round).

that's why I asked, that shit is complicated..
So if Arsenal regain 4th and win the FA cup, Hull will be in it due to Arsenal already being qualified, Everton will be in it as a regular qualifier and Spurs will be in it due to City winning the CC?

im telling you they wouldnt even be in Top 4 if they had to deal with all the fixtures we had to deal with. Lucky pool
You could argue though, that if they were in the CL they'd have money available and the appeal to attract players to strengthen their squad.
We'll never know.

Not just Europe. Knocked out of the league cup back in September, knocked out of the FA cup in February, which is when your unbeaten run startedstevieg8 wrote:Wait, so people seriously think not being in Europe is worth 4 places in the league table in benefits? That's quite a bold statement.

Qualifying through the league table always counts first. So if Arsenal qualify for Europe through their league finish, like they will, then Hull will qualify through the FA cup final, because Arsenal don't need that qualification.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V10
5th,6th and 7th spots are for EL.
5th spot gets it anyways
A spot is there for the COC winners but NOT the finalists. A spot is there for the winners of FA Cup final or the finalists as long as they are not in the CL already or EL.
City have won the COC so that doesn't affect anyone. No one gets the EL from that competition.
Hull are in the final of the FA Cup so they get an EL spot. Which will be the 7th spot.
So 5th Arsenal, 6th Tottenham and Hull the FA finalist will be in the EL. IF Arsenal finish 4th then Everton will replace us.
I think I have got most of it. Jay pls correct me.

yeah, it probably is.
What also is a silly coincidence is that Arsenal was leading the league while they were in all competitions, and then started to fall back after being knocked out of the league cup and the CL

No. Arsenal were leading the league table while in all the competitions when we had most if not all of our players fit. We lost our key core and dropped off in every competition one by one

Nah, losing our best players WHILE playing in all comps, as well as playing giants every week for almost 2 months straight is what did us in
Let's not forget a 2009 Lionel Messi-like Walcott got injured disposing of the trash that is Tottenham Hotcrap in the FA Cup

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V10
I responded to Chelsea fans and somehow that starts an argument between Arsenal and Bayern fans?
And Chelsea were never "out" of the title race. The only ones that said/thought so are obnoxious, hyperbolic blowhards trying to get a bit of attention and/or make the achievement (should Chelsea actually win it) look like more than it otherwise is.

Really? I was sure the 5th place finish was the "first" EL qualification spot and winning the FA cup doesn't push it down... Maybe you've got the correct info, then.

Yeah, FA Cup ranks over league position
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/apr/10/manchester-united-stars-playing-for-futures-darren-fletcher-champions-league
Moyes's side still have a Europa League spot to play for. Yet while seventh place would qualify them if Arsenal win the FA Cup and finish fifth or sixth

Did you actually just say "benefits" of playing more games?RedOranje wrote:We'd also have a significantly stronger and deeper squad, with more prestige, money, and game play on offer to tempt players in. Liverpool have had a great deal fewer fixtures but we also have a notably thinner squad due to having less funds and less draw without the CL.
You cannot simply whine about fixtures then ignore the benefits.
And besides, facts are facts. By the end of the season you'll probably have played 15-20 less games than Chelsea. Let's act like that's not a significant advantage.
