Manchester City offer Arsenal's Bacary Sagna three-year deal
• Frenchman can join on a free transfer in the summer
• Adebayor, Nasri, Touré and Clichy all left Emirates for Etihad

Three-year deal for a 31-year old.

City aren't worried about resale value, and Sagna's shown little to no ill-effects of his age so far. They're getting a vastly experienced and quality player for free (if this move happens) so I very much doubt age is a concern. Sagna can easily play a role either as a starter or a back-up until he's in his mid-to-upper 30s at the current rate.

Re: Sagna to City
Yep. He is still a top 3 RB in the league. Faultless displays time and time again. His stamina is still incredible. Moreover he can also play CB adequately as he has done for us few times due to whatever reasons.
Hopefully he stays with us though.

I think his wage is very low compared to players of similar stature. So even if City offers a rise and pays that for three years, that's quiet economic for them.

Yeah... he'll just move to CB if he can't keep the pace to be a fullback. Looks really good at CB too. I think he'll be good until he's 34-35 no problem if healthy.

Re: Sagna to City
Zabaleta had been very good for city I'm surprised they're thinking about replacing him, although that would be great depth for the position

I doubt that they are tbh.
They realise that outside their first XI there is some weak spots in their squad and RB is one of them.
Going from Zabaleta to Richards who is hardly fit anyway is a mighty big drop off.

Doesn't surprise me that City are going for Arsenal scrubs tbh. After all their directors are former Barca men.

Re: Sagna to City
With the added benefit that Sagna can act as a replacement for Lescott in the CB depth charts as well.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:BarrileteCosmico wrote:Zabaleta had been very good for city I'm surprised they're thinking about replacing him, although that would be great depth for the position

We are trying to but he is at the age of his career where More money and quick trophies are extremely lucrative. We can offer him the former but not the latter.

Re: Sagna to City
I thought the three year thing was the main issue between him and Arsenal, but it seems they#re offering him 3 years as well now.
So maybe he#ll stay after all?
Don't get what's the big deal with contract length for over 30s to be honest.
It's not like a players who's still good at 33 will turn a shitty and expensive liability the day he turns 34?

They'd have 2. Richards isn't really in the reckoning and may be leaving.

Feel kinda bad for him. He was one of the exciting talents of England and he just never really fulfilled his promise.
