Sevilla only got into the Europa League because Malaga got done by FFP and Rayo couldn't qualify for a license to play in Europe. They've had to play two rounds of qualifying and up to this point have played 18 games in this year's competition. Benfica will be the 19th. Half a league season in one tournament.

Valencia were hard done by in this tie. Mbia's goal in the first leg shouldn't have stood, and they were by far the superior side tonight. Sevilla didn't even turn up. Even though Valencia were doing everything to time waste towards the end, Sevilla weren't making anything and didn't even look like scoring, yet went through on an away goal.

In their home stadium, with the chance of playing a home final, against a team with 10 men, and later against 9 men.

Benfica showed some grit to get through that, but IMO they have suffered too much collateral damage to win the final:

Perez suspended (red carded)
Salvio suspended (too many yellows)
Markovic suspended (red carded)
Garay injured.

I heard that the touchline fight was started when Conte called Lazar Marković a "fraud" for going down with injury and wasting time, to which Markovic responded "why don't you take off your cap and we'll see who the real fraud is".

It was extremely annoying to watch Benfica's time wasting, pretty much killed the whole second half. Clattenburg couldn't handle it at all. Benfica's yellow and red cards were mostly down to that, ugly sacrifices that had to be made. I have no respect for this, but we can still only blame ourselves not going through.
