He couldn't stop a Taxi.
He's not a bad GK, but neither a very good one. He doesn't make mistakes but doesnt' save much.

Oliver Torres in poor performance shockers with Vila-Real. He's so overhyped.

I'm originally (and still am) a supporter of David given his heritage and need to overtake his predecessor for  España. I think he has fared well in his time in Manchester United despite his (understandably) rough start, to which he has stimulated a very admirable triumph of United's mainstay Goalkeeper. The problems I had for him is that in spite of his age, his nerves and lack of tenacity limited him into a goalkeeper with few dimensions beyond his obvious strengths.

Though my observations of him could just be skewed given that I've seen him in high pressure circumstances and where a very poor defence has let him down and of course, just the wrong combination of matches to which I have observed him in; given that I seldom watch United especially under Moyes.

So given your evaluation, I'll further observe him to note the points on what he hasn't improved upon, and what he has.
You lost me about halfway through the first paragraph, but yes, you should watch more of Manchester United. Not only to see how well De Gea progresses, but to enjoy their poor form.  Razz

did ronaldo actually bitch about Bale taking the free kick in that situation?
I saw it in the game as well but wasn't sure if I could blieve my eyes.

First thing any manager who wants to get somewhere at Real should do anyway is take away Ronaldo's free kick privilege.
Let's face it, he's not very good at it and wastes a lot of dead ball opportunities.

Recall the time when he spat his dummy out when Alonso wanted to take a penalty against Villareal a few years back.

Barcelona ace Xavi says that he is in best shape of his life and is therefore not even entertaining the idea of hanging up his boots right now.

The Spain midfielder turned 34 in January but insists that while he he does not see himself still being involved in international football when the 2018 World Cup rolls around, retirement is currently the last thing on his mind.

"I am physically well," he told So Foot. "I feel even better than the previous two seasons.

"Honestly, this is the first time in my career that I have felt so good. I'm more mature and much better physically."

Consequently, Xavi has given little thought to what he will do with himself when he does eventually decide to call time on his illustrious playing career.

"What I know is that I love football and I intend to stay in this world," the World Cup winner stated.

"In any case, I would not know where to look [for a job] in an office. What do you want me to do - economics?

"Social and political debates are too complicated for me. What I like is football."

When he does retire, Xavi will leave behind an incredible legacy, given he has been a key component in the Spain and Barcelona sides that have dominated world football and international and club level for varying periods of time.

Consequently, some pundits feel that he will go down as his country's greatest ever player - but the man himself is embarrassed by such talk.

"There are many other players," he argued. "Why shouldn't [Iker] Casillas be considered the best Spanish player of all time? He has virtually the same titles as I do.

"There's also [Carles] Puyol, [Sergio] Ramos, [David] Villa, Raul ... And [Fernando] Hierro, [Pep] Guardiola, Luis Suarez, [Alfredo] Di Stefano ...

"But just the fact that I'm cited in this debate is an honour."

Xavi humbly added that two coaches in particular have played a key role in the successes he has enjoyed as a player.

"[Pep Guardiola] will always be an important person in my life," he confessed. "He was when I was a kid, and he was when he coached me [at Barcelona].

"I've liked working with all the coaches I've had but if I had to highlight two, it would be Pep and [former Spain boss Luis] Aragones. They have been very important."

Post by Jay29 Sat Mar 29, 2014 12:10 pm

Another big day today in terms of the title and fourth spot:

Espanyol vs Barcelona (15:00)
Celta Viga vs Sevilla (17:00)
Athletic vs Atleti (19:00)
Real Madrid vs Rayo (21:00)

Initially, I thought it could be Atletico's turn to drop points this weekend, but I think they're set-up quite well to deal with Athletic's style. It'll be a hard game for them but I can see them coming away with a 1-0 win.

I'm expecting Barcelona and Madrid to pick up three points, even though Rayo are staging a revival right now, unbeaten in their last five and winning four of them.

He has been Spain's best and most consistent defender since 2006, aka their Golden Era.
