Re: La Liga 2013/14 Discussion Mk. 2
Barcelona icon Johan Cruyff believes Neymar is the biggest problem at Camp Nou as a result of his extortionate salary.
The 22-year-old joined Barca from Santos ahead of the 2013-14 campaign and immediately became one of the Blaugrana's highest-paid players.
Cruyff feels the attacker has yet to prove himself at the highest level, though, and thinks his rivals up front could be unhappy with Neymar's high wages.
"Barcelona's problem is Neymar," Cruyff was quoted as saying by El Mundo Deportivo.
"He is a great player, let there be no doubt about that, but you cannot sign a 21-year-old and pay him more than players who have won it all. Nobody is god at the age of 21.
"Plus Barcelona already have the greatest player in the world [Lionel Messi] and a 21-year-old kid cannot be the key figure. This is impossible in football. At the age of 26, yes, but not at 21."

Why would anyone hype us when they know racking up records against anyone that isn't Barca/Atletico doesn't mean much? I'm sure the majority of fans only judge in the big games.
The smaller games are just used to see how we've improved in certain areas.

Di Maria would have saved this game with the form he is in currently, no doubt about it.
Shame he received a yellow card against Nerman.

Real Madrid have the easiest schedule...
Atletico the toughest...
Barcelona have to play away against Espanyol on Saturday and away against Villarreal in the end of next month... If we manage to win these games, a draw in the final game vs Atletico might be enough to win the title... Although, none of the remaining 8 games is going to be easy...
Week 31, 35 and 38 are the most decisive ones...

"real madrid have the easiest schedule"
Which makes this loss even more painful
There are a few players in my opinion at this point that aren't fit to wear the shirt right now. Ramos, carvajal, illara, bale, have been absolutely shocking. Diego lopez has started to lose his form. And honestly, isco looked pretty good in his time on the field. Put in a hell of a workrate at the end. He should be playing over bale or illara imo.

I'am happy because its back in our hands... we have to win the next 7 games and then face Atletico at Camp Nou for the title... But its going to be very hard in the away games even against Granada and Elche, players should not do the same mistakes they did against Valladolid... but at least now its in our hands... Title race is still open, any of the 3 can still win La Liga...

OMG WOOOO HOOOOO!!! I cant believe Real lost! After they scored first and played well especially. This was one of their harder fixtures left though so this loss was a must for us to overtake them, YEA WOOO HOOO!!!
As for Barca, terrible loss of Valdes Feel so bad.... didnt deserve that. Importantly Pinto isnt as good, but I just hope it doesnt cost us. Messi stepped up just when things were down.
Neymar proved hes good. Compared with Bale who perform poorly in other game, Neymar did well Im sure ppl here will overrate again and say one is good and the other is scrub etc., Neymar better than Bales etc.

Nowhere near as hilarious as Madrid getting hyped every year when they go through a decent run of form and when crunch time arrives they fall like a pack of cards.
Happens every season, but still no one ever learns.... If they don't win anything this season you would think it would be lesson learnt but alas i doubt it.
The yearly Madrid hype rollercoster:
June-August: Purchase every star available for 12000 bazillion euros and the fans and press are predicting they will win the treble.
August-December: Team runs into trouble trying to get their dysfunctional team to actually work, hype decreases substantially but fans are still hopeful.
January-March: The coach finally finds a system that works and Madrid beat laligascrubs by 7 goals margins. THE TREBLE TEAM IS HERE.
April: As Madrid enters the decisive face of the campaign the team inevitably flops. The fans and press wonder how this team assembled by how marketable each player is could have possibly failed.
May: The coach & players are scapegoated and the hype reaches negative levels. The fans and press have set the way for yet another summer cleaning.
Repeat endlessly.
Oh thats wonderful

I'd have to respectfully disagree with what you have to say regarding De Gea.Arquitescu wrote:Lopez? Lopez is a nobody. As for De Gea I like him yet still don't trust him as for all his spectacular saves, he still must evolve his game beyond just shot-stopping.
Reina has been better than both as VDB will trust him to be the 2nd choice GK as per usual.
He's developed more into a complete goalkeeper with great distribution and control in aerial situations. He's also not error-prone at all -- the big one against Sunderland is the only one that has happened to him in the past year or so, I think -- and he has superb reflexes.
However, I have a thought that many of his spectacular saves comes from iffy positioning. I could be wrong at that, but I wouldn't go out of my way to analyse how he positions himself in goal all the time.

De Gea has become a far more complete keeper. His aerial presence has vastly improved. His shot stopping is his main attribute and his distribution is improving. Please, he is a much better GK than Reina. Arq your Liverpool bias gets in the way. Reina is an okay gk, nothing more. I hope Napoli keep him. He won't ever get back into our starting 11.

That shouldn't even be a question anyway. De Gea is the future and should benefit from a World Cup experience. From a sporting point of view it's of little relevance who the third goalkeeper is.

My prediction is still looking good. They won't win the league but they'll win the CL. Madrid, that is.

Not true Jibsy.
I was very critical of Pepe during his final year in Liverpool and sought a replacement if he did not return back to his standards.
I personally rate Mignolet and I'm sure you do as well yet when I look at Reina's resurgence in Napoli and the stark difference between what Reina can do compared to Mignolet, I'd take Reina back in a heartbeat and have Mignolet as an understudy.
Dea Gea might be better in his strengths but in no way he is more complete than Reina. Not a chance.

Salut Pippo.
I'm originally (and still am) a supporter of David given his heritage and need to overtake his predecessor for España. I think he has fared well in his time in Manchester United despite his (understandably) rough start, to which he has stimulated a very admirable triumph of United's mainstay Goalkeeper. The problems I had for him is that in spite of his age, his nerves and lack of tenacity limited him into a goalkeeper with few dimensions beyond his obvious strengths.
Though my observations of him could just be skewed given that I've seen him in high pressure circumstances and where a very poor defence has let him down and of course, just the wrong combination of matches to which I have observed him in; given that I seldom watch United especially under Moyes.
So given your evaluation, I'll further observe him to note the points on what he hasn't improved upon, and what he has.
