Juventus vs Inter : Derby D'Italia
Vs
Stadium : Juventus Arena
Kick-Off : Sunday,2nd February 19.45 PM UK Time
Form :
Juventus : WWWLD
Inter : LLDLD
Preview :
- Spoiler:
Although Juventus and Inter go into the Derby d’Italia in very contrasting form, both suffered disappointing draws in the previous round of fixtures.
Following on from their 4-2 dismantling of Sampdoria, the Bianconeri travelled to the Stadio Olimpico to face Lazio, hoping to extend their incredible winning streak in Serie A to 13 consecutive games, but tied 1-1 with the Biancocelesti.
The result may have ended their winning series but they remain unbeaten in the League since their 4-2 defeat away to Fiorentina in mid-October.
Gianluigi Buffon saw red for the visitors after 24 minutes, with Antonio Candreva dispatching the resulting penalty past substitute Marco Storari in the Juve goal. Fernando Llorente came to La Vecchia Signora’s rescue, salvaging a point with his 60th minute effort, and Coach Antonio Conte was pleased with his side’s resolve after they went down to 10 men.
“We have shown why we are top of the table,” Conte mused. “We try to instil a winning mentality, the players rose to the occasion and demonstrated that they are men.”
Juventus will be without two key figures on Sunday evening, as Giorgio Chiellini is still sidelined with a thigh problem, and Buffon will serve the first of a three-match suspension following his sending-off against the Aquile.
Welcoming fifth placed Inter, who have only scored one goal and are without a win since the turn of the year, will the Old Lady of Turin succumb to an unlikely defeat?
The Beneamata arrive on the back of a 0-0 stalemate at home to bottom side Catania, an outcome which was as much thanks to the brilliance of Elefanti ‘keeper Alberto Frison as it was to the profligacy of the Biscione strikers.
Nerazzurro tactician Walter Mazzarri was left ruing missed opportunities as a troubled week in Lombardy culminated in a result which now leaves the Milanese giants looking nervously over their shoulders, with Torino, Parma and Hellas Verona all in close pursuit.
“It was as though we were playing behind closed doors, there was no enthusiasm at the stadium,” he lamented. “When we could have scored we didn’t, and there wasn’t a turning point.”
Due to new signing Danilo D’Ambrosio having suffered a thigh injury, Inter will be unable to call on the former Torino full-back for this match, and Esteban Cambiasso has also been ruled out after picking up a hamstring strain against Catania, although Brazilian midfielder Hernanes could make his first appearance in Nerazzurri colours following his recent move from Lazio.
Keep an eye on: Arturo Vidal (Juventus) – The 26-year-old box-to-box midfielder recently declared himself to be the best in the world in his role, and this may not be far from the truth, with the Chilean in such outstanding form so far this term - 10 goals, five assists and five man of the match performances in 21 appearances for the Italian champions has understandably attracted the interest of some of the continent’s most prestigious clubs. You can expect him to cut an imposing figure on Sunday evening, as he looks to dominate the midfield battle against his Inter counterparts.
Form Guide: Juventus (W W W W D) Inter (W L D L D)

There are some reports thats saying Hernanes could start so we will be up against him in consecutive weeks.Hopefully Vidal/Marchisio take care of him like they did at the Olimpico.

Re: Juventus vs Inter : Derby D'Italia
Dani Osvaldo is not included in the Juventus squad to face Inter on Sunday evening and Gigi Buffon is suspended.
The Derby d’Italia kicks off at 19.45 GMT, click here for a match preview.
Osvaldo arrived yesterday to complete his loan move from Southampton, but will only be in the stands for tomorrow’s Serie A clash.
It has been revealed the striker chose shirt number 18.
He’ll be accompanied by his Italy teammate Buffon, who sits out a ban following his red card against Lazio.
On the other hand, Mirko Vucinic is back in the squad, putting the recent controversy of a failed move to Inter behind him.
Fabio Quagliarella is unavailable, though Giorgio Chiellini returns from suspension.
Juventus squad for Inter: Chiellini, Caceres, Ogbonna, Pogba, Pepe, Marchisio, Vucinic, Tevez, Giovinco, Peluso, Llorente, Barzagli, Bonucci, Padoin, Pirlo, Asamoah, Vidal, Lichtsteiner, Storari, Isla, Rubinho, Vannucchi

Juve have to win this one. Juve should try their best to keep the lead to at least 5 points before Europa League games kick off. Forza Juve!
