A-League Discussion
It's well past time that we actually had a dedicated general A-League thread for discussing developments in the domestic competition that are not necessarily matchday commentary.
I'll get the ball rolling with the news today that Man City have bought a majority stake in Melbourne Heart and have registered "Melbourne City Football Club" as a Trademark.
What are your thoughts on this?

Re: A-League Discussion
Also, seeing as that piece of news has it's own thread in the Gen Sec, what about the news that Berisha is moving from Roar to Victory next season?
Personally, I think this move is appropriate given that thee most annoying player in the league has finally joined the most hated club in the league.

I like how it needs a thread despite the whole section being dedicated to it.
Barisha to Victory is massive, more reason for Adelaide to hate them though.

Like everyone has said Barisha to Victory is perfect, scum player to a scum club.
Although i'd have him in my team everyday of the week.
Still can't believe city are buying heart FFS, they can barley get fans to the stadium or win a match, why they didn't buy WSW is beyond me.

Re: A-League Discussion
Yeah, Berisha has always been a quality player for A-League standards. I probably wouldn't take him at AUFC considering that IMO we have the best ensemble of strikers and attacking wingers in the league: Jeronimo, Ferreira, Djite, Cirio, Mabil, R. Griffiths. However, I can see why MV would want Berisha because Thompson is not getting any younger and the rest of their forwards are either wingers or second strikers.

Re: A-League Discussion
The man city/heart thing will be the same as Chelsea/Vitesse deal, good for both clubs, questionable for the league

I think a stronger Heart (or Melbourne City) will be good for the league because it improves the competition generally.

Re: A-League Discussion
AUFC v Heart
I'm fairly confident that we will put Heart to the sword at home, despite them getting a confidence boost from their 1st win last week. We have too much quality in attack and midfield for them. Our defence is still suspect, although we have been keeping clean sheets lately. Lapses by our CBs or exploitation of the space behind our full-backs will be the only avenues I can see Heart scoring by, apart from the ever-threatening set-piece, that is.
Do you think your team will win this weekend?

Re: A-League Discussion
City won't have too much of a great effect on heart, salary cap will maintain that. No amount of money can bring WC players to the a-league at a good age.
Hmm vsing Perth this week, honestly with our current form and poppas rotation policy who knows, i think we can edge them because were at home, but not greatly confident.
P.s Heart will get smashed by you guys this week
P.S.S how BS was the goal last week.

Every thing is all good at the sky blues, don't make any changes, everything is fine.
On a serious note most of the cove walked out during the game, protests against the management and coaches lead to the capo's wife getting kicked out which in turn lead to eveyone else walking out. What happened to the "there are some things you don't turn your back on" banner, hahah scum bags.
Farina = dud coach

Farina needs to go, but I think the problems are deeper at Syd FC. The business model is horrible. The chairman should stand down, there needs to be a football director with a clear plan... more attention to youth, make a 5 yr plan with an actual concept in mind.
Club is a joke.

I feel so sorry for ADP. Every time he makes a good pass to a teammate and then they lose it... the look on his face is one of sadness and frustration.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/sport/budgie-on-the-ball/9749929/Rumours-about-Melbourne-Heart
A couple of good things came out of Wellington Phoenix’s 5-0 ugly loss at the hands of Melbourne Heart last weekend – well good for the A-League in general.
Reliable sources tell me Heart, now majority owned by Manchester City, are in the process of signing a world class player from Spanish powerhouse Barcelona as their marquee man for next season.
Fitting the bill, and nearing the end of his career, is 34-year-old Spanish World Cup winning midfielder Xavi Hernandez.
He has played more than 700 games in Barcelona’s colours winning scores of trophies including multiple La Liga titles and Champions League triumphs.
The international media is already saying Xavi’s days are numbered and speculating on who will replace him at Barcelona.
The signing will be a loan deal. My understanding is that Xavi, or whoever Heart’s marquee signing may turn out to be, will also play for the New York City Football Club.
New York is a new club also majority owned by Manchester City set to play in America’s Major League Soccer competition from 2015.
Adding credibility to the story is the fact that Manchester City’s chief executive Ferran Soriano was previously at Barcelona where he was credited with transforming the off-field fortunes of the club.
The Heart news doesn’t stop there. I understand there is truth in speculation that the club will next season change its name to Melbourne City and the colour of its playing strip to sky blue - to match that of Manchester City.
It is exciting times for the A-League.
See i don't even want to talk that much about the legitimacy of the xavi rumors, but more so can city pull off these types of transfers for the heart/city?

I don't see why not. Why move to a corrupt oil league when you can live in Australia instead and earn just as much?

Re: A-League Discussion
I was, I was at the northern end (not Vidmar end, the other one which name I forget) So I got a full view of the streaker.
It was a good game, good atmosphere too and had a bit of everything. Adelaide deserved the win too.

Gombau has signed a 2 year extension to remain at the helm of the Reds until the 2016/17 season.
