Everyone knows he was too inexperienced for the Chelsea job but he still did a superior job during his time there than a far more experienced manager like Moyes for instance.
As for his time at Tottenham. He led them to their best ever PL points tally (yes better than 'appy 'arry who had VDV, Modric, King & Bale) and it took a godly run of form from Arsenal who won 9 of their last 11 games to narrowly miss out on 4th.
I think calling a 36 year old manager shit & hopeless is definitely short-sighted but I suppose that sums up today's football fans.
I think as long as AVB stays far away from British shores he'll eventually prove his managerial pedigree.
Fully agreed.

Re: AVB appointed again!
Zenit interest sparkling up, with "close sources" saying he should be hired on Monday.
Di Marzio gets it right again, assuming it goes through.
AVB must be balling ffs. Porto, Chelsea, Spurs and now Zenit. That $$$.
Zenit do have a decent side on paper, but I haven't watched the RSL in a couple of years. They possess the likes of Hulk, Criscito, Danny, Witsel and Rondon. They also have a man with GREAT experience and leadership in Tymo, although he is very old now. Won't be surprised if he's as old as AVB tbh. What a career he's had. Anyway, AVB has pretty much taken the pressure off himself by going to a "lower tier league", but no doubt it is growing. Zenit is a very wealthy club who I do think WILL back him this time so I guess it's not a bad choice per se.

There is a difference between managing a bunch of world class players within a clear system and winning every trophy there is to win with it multiple times and relying on 1 individual to bail you out time and time again with a late long range winner because your system doesn't work. Can you spot it?
When AVB got the sack he was having Chelsea 20 points behind the league leaders at 5th place and 1-4 down to Napoli in the Champions League. That was his work after 27 match days. Trailing 7 points behind 'Arry's Spurs. His Chelsea side had already conceded as many goals as the Chelsea side from previous season did in the whole season (which came 2nd by the way). More than Sunderland.
Age doesn't excuse incompetence. The same way you can already predict that Cleverley will never become the next Xavi just because he is young right now the same way you can already predict that AVB will never become a standout coach. Contrary to popular believe it doesn't take a coach 10 years to implement a system. What's AVB's system?

btw, could the thread maybe be renamed? Because every time it is bumped my brain thinks for a split second that AVB was sacked AGAIN, like groundhog day, it's pretty irritating
I'll rename it to; "It happened *once again*" once Zenit have sacked him

Those tallies don't mean anything anyway. In 10/11 the champion could have won the league with 71 points. A year later you needed 89 points. Some years a league is harder to win than in other years. The worst Barca of the past 6 years won the league with 100 points. A third of the season playing without a coach. What matters is your end position. Ultimately 'Arry got Spurs to 4th (mainly due to AVB's incompetence at Chelsea ) while AVB got both Spurs and Chelsea at 5th. You didn't see any concept either. You could accept a barren spell if you could at least see "okay, he is trying something and the players need to adapt yet". No, the football Spurs played was simply dire and they barely created chances in his second season.

Assholes at Chelsea. Why couldn't they have sacked him AFTER the semi-finals? DAT AVB highline in Camp Nou. It never materialized.

So Bonnie Prince André cons his way into another job.
From being talked about as Real and Barca material to....the Russian League
-
Better hope he doesn't make it a hattrick of trainwrecks on the spin, as bombing here will surely be curtains on his comedy show of a career.

Re: AVB appointed again!
AVB's a decent coach, he's just been unfortunate with Chelsea and Spurs. At Chelsea he didn't get time to build his own team and it was in fact him who was brave enough to bench the older players. Now if any coach was to bench them now, no one would complain.
In terms of Spurs, he had his team completely reshaped over the summer and the expectations were too high.
Hopefully at Zenit he can regain some of the credibility he lost by winning some trophies, which could mean he attracts top clubs again.

AVB has done a world class job at being able to sell himself despite successive failures. He's truly a GOAT.

Re: AVB appointed again!
I think he will find some success with zenit. Although I find the club a bit bullish, hulk and witsel didn't sit well at first because they were foreign. Now they have a foreign manager, but I'm sure the players are past that.

Quotes from Villas-Boas
''I’ve always had success wherever I’ve been: with Academica I got to the semi-finals of the League Cup; with Porto I won 4 titles in 1 year; and at Spurs we finished the season with a club record points total.
When I didn’t finish the season with Chelsea, the club ended up winning the Champions League. You have to give the players credit but I was the one who built the team.

More like '' I won four titles with Porto, reached the Champions League quarter-finals with Chelsea, and the team later won the trophy. ''
nonetheless, this guy seems to think he's Mourinho-like
