A step up, Valencia are still in the CL

Former Chelsea manager, Roberto di Matteo has reportedly flown to Valencia to take over as the new manager, just two days following the sacking of former manager, Mauricio Pellegrino.

Following Valencia’s 2-5 loss to Real Sociedad last Saturday evening, an emergency board meeting was held by club president, Manuel Llorente, while Pellegrino was giving post-match comments to the media.

After the press conference, Pellegrino found Llorente in the locker room waiting to give him the news of his dismissal, to which Pellegrino went into a rage, calling Llorente “spineless”.

Inside Spanish football has learned that Di Matteo has landed in Valencia to workout the final details of a contract that will see the Champions League winning manager remain the first team coach through the end of the season, with the contract expiring in June.

At that point, they will then discussed the terms of an extension, or work out their candidate for the permanent position.

Di Matteo is expected to be announced by Valencia in a press conference scheduled for Monday morning.

I think he could have joined a better club. The best he'll probably do is finish 4th with Valencia.

Man, you guys underrate RDM here.

He can play attacking football. He did at WBA and this season.

It would have been a decent move but I don't know if I could handle him managing another team yet.
