Re: The Official Winter Transfer Thread
Chelsea are looking to/are making massive changes to the squad, accelerating the "evolution." These next couple of transfer windows will be about making the squad into what the club wants as a final product. I would hold on to making any judgements about the squad as of yet and/or about any potential arrivals.

That doesn't make any sense. We can't knowingly sell Ba and then be super anxious about having no third striker and then rush into a buy. We're that competent!

So nothing is based on a plan? We just sell players in our sleeps, wake up the next morning to realize that we just accidentally sold a player, and panic buy someone who we weren't otherwise considering?

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Thread
Michael Essien comes close to Milan. Tomorrow, meanwhile, will be a crucial day. Today was reached in Milan the agreement between the agents and the Rossoneri midfielder. This evening, the prosecutors of the footballer flew to London to speak with Chelsea. The Blues will respond tomorrow morning, Milan has indeed changed strategy. The Rossoneri are willing to take outright the card of the player, receiving from Chelsea a contribution to the payment of the engagement this season. The English company should, therefore, give the card to freeing Essien but for the next a heavy engagement of a player rarely used. AC Milan tries, tomorrow the response of Chelsea. Essien sees Italy.

I don't think we indented to Sell Mata, he wanted out so we panic bought a replacement. Someone who did well against us who we haven't properly scouted.

I'm surprised you would think that a club the size of Chelsea would just buy a player randomly without any proper scouting and analysis, on the basis of probability, on the player's future success.

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Thread
I've no doubt they scouted him - it's their ability to make judgements that I question. After Moses, Marin, Ba, etc., how could one not?

I really wouldn't doubt Emenalo's judgement making abilities (not that they are completely rid of flaw). Courtois, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Oscar, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Hazard, etc are all players who have done good for the club. Courtois, De Bruyne and Lukaku had been properly scouted and all three have shown their world class potential to the world. Of course, not everyone makes it, but those who don't are sold for a hefty profit which is good for the player and club.
Guys like Moses and Marin were also low-risk buys because they did not cost much yet had they lived up to their potential then the club would have had some very nice players fully developed for the cheap. If not, they get sold for a minimal loss. It is not as if we are relying on these low-risk players either to get trophies; if, for example, Salah is not good enough then we have nothing to worry about because we have other great players in his position.
This is very good judgement and is shrewd in the days of FFP. Notice we're doing the same thing for the CB situation.

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Thread
That Cheatcharito is disgusted with lack of first-team actions and wants out of United. Would have him here in a heartbeat.

Oh I thought you were showing the Salah article haha. Yeah i'd love the little poacher, if we sell Ba we should certainly make him a part of the Mata deal.

He'd also likely cost about twice as much.

So, we're selling Mata for 37m and buying Salah for 11m, we've got money.

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Thread
Then why are you advocating spending upwards of £40m (£38m the rumoured asking price) on him?

Oh, you're talking about Diego Costa? I thought you meant Salah.
Costa is built for the EPL imo.

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Thread
I was mistaken
tbh, Hernandez isn't a sure thing either, he only gets goals, brings nothing else to the table. Which is why Utd barely play him.

Re: The Official Winter Transfer Thread
Hernandez is not good enough as a starter, he will frustrate you a lot. His first touch is very poor and he never holds up the ball to bring other players in. Most of his goals are from crosses too.
