Basically we had 16 points at this gameweek last season, We have 27 now.
The only thing here, Which way do you want to look at it?

Re: Results Comparison
We picked just two out of a possible 12 against Swansea, Southampton, Newcastle and Hull. Even going by Rodgers Average (two points per game) we are six points deficit.
We didn't make-up for this deficit against the big teams either. We picked four points out of possible 12 (or 6 by RA) against Arsenal, MU and Everton.
We are doing better than last season, NO DOUBT. But it's equally obvious that we aren't doing good enough for T4 place.

Re: Results Comparison
How does one get 12 points from 3 games Would be quite impressive by Rodgers to have gotten full points from those games against the big teams if it had meant 12 out of 9

Re: Results Comparison
@ifthi
Swansea and Newcastle were not must win games. They were away matches and both team are definitely on paper at least top 10 teams so draws were what we needed and draws were what we got.
Soton is in the same category as those 2 teams, but the match was at home so we should've won. But we lost, which means winning against one of the best teams in the league was a necessity. We won against United to cancel the disappointment there out.
Now the only bad result that's hanging over our heads that needs to be taken care of in one of the big matches coming up is Hull City loss.
It's logically as simple as that really.

Important Questions
I think we all know the questions on the tips of our tongues at the moment:
How can we assume we're terrible despite winning today?
How awful is the PL this year if a team this shit can be in 2nd?
Why has BR only ever bought scrubs like Allen and Coutinho?
Will we ever provide a quality performance?
Why does no one except for Suarez show up for games? Additionally, how much do we hate Suarez?
Can we fire BR for the poor quality of this win, or do we have to wait until after he loses again?
I thought people might get confused with all the positivity in here - they might think they were on the wrong website. So I figured I'd bring back some of the spirit of this week's commentary.

Re: Results Comparison
Why should a poster not voice their thoughts if they perceive something else about the team than the majority's opinion?
What ever negativity or criticism there's been on here I don't think it's gone over the top. I for one do think our performances have at times left something to be desired, in spite of us being 2nd at the moment. Just keep it in context - in this case the fact that the PL is proving to be as tough as ever, no team being a total push-over - and I believe positive, negative as well as neutral viewpoints can co-exist here and provide topics of discussion.

Re: Results Comparison
I have no problem with people voicing opinions, and I like a lot of Red Alert's posts. But it's reached the point where I don't even check this site after a loss anymore, there's too much stupidity and kneejerk overreactions going around. It makes me sad, this used to be a regular part of my day, and now it's something to take up time instead of something I enjoy.
I've only been an LFC fan for four years now. I started following in 09/10. I've never seen us in the CL. And if anyone here thinks that there's even a remote comparison between our play at the moment and our play in any of those other seasons, they've lost all my respect for their football knowledge.
I hate losing to Hull as much as everyone else. It sucks, it makes me feel like crap, it ruins my day. I see flaws in this team as well, and debating those should be and is a huge part of what we do here. But the attitude I consistently see in this section these days is more fitting for a relegation candidate, and it upsets me.

Re: Results Comparison
Let me just start by saying I do go over the top at times... so I apologise to you steveig8 and the rest of the posters in this section for doing so and making the section 'dull' with the negativity as we do sit in second place after 15 games which is a good good thing.
With that said, I don't honestly buy into the "everything is fine as we got the result" debate that seems to be the ONLY response I get, well, the only other being to stop being a 'pessimist' regarding my posts.
So yeah, I'm not sorry for being a 'pessimist', I honestly don't believe we're all that and do believe my concerns are valid. And to be honest, I'm a little confused, how are my posts knee jerk if I've consistently stated my thoughts since very early in the season?

Re: Results Comparison
Our next 10 games.
We only 9 points from these 10 games last season.* Anything under 20 points and it'll be difficult to get into the 4.
*We obviously didn't vs Cardiff and/or Hull at home last season. But we won all 3 of our games at Anfield from teams that were promoted.
City are slowly turning their away form around, and it won't be long before Chelsea sign a striker in January. Ba, Torres and Eto'o have like 4 goals between them, yet sit on the same points as us. It'll be scary as if they get Falcao.
Spurs, too, are slowly getting their season started and could easily be equal points to us this time next week despite being in a 'crisis' and calls for AVB to get sacked...
It's make or break season time boys.

A look at how the top clubs are playing against each other.

Arsenal: 3-1-1 (5/15) 33% 4/1 10/15(66%)
Liverpool: 1-2-2 (5/15) 33% 2/3 5/15(33%)
Chelsea: 2-2-2 (6/15) 40% 2/4 8/18(44%)
Man City: 4-1-1 (6/15) 40% 4/2 13/18(72%)
Everton: 3-1-3 (7/15) 47% 4/3 10/21(48%)
Tottenham: 0-3-3 (6/15) 40% 3/3 3/18(17%)

Like Sepi has stated in the past, we need to win a lot more of these "bonus" games this section goes on about. These really are "6 point games". We won't get top 4 just beating the bottom half of teams.
Spurs have the worst record in the league against the top sides, but they have played Arsenal, Man City and Everton away. They've also played Chelsea and United at home and were probably unlucky not to get 3 points against United. Tim Krul saved Newcastle.
Anyway, we need to win a lot more of these "bigger" games.

Re: Results Comparison
So can we please agree that it's not "knee jerk" when I say our away form has been terrible for a team that wants to play in Europe consistently and something that will probably make us drop out of the 4 by the end of the season?
City and Chelsea probably make it look "okay" there, but their record is poor THIS season is why. But they're both been adjusting to a new manager this season. We should have already overcame that problem last season, and we did in the second half of the season. So again, I'm not sure why we changed the way we play this season. Rodgers experimentations haven't worked at all.
Oh, and City's finally found some form away. Think they've won 2 (West Brom and Bayern) and drawed 1 (against Soton) from their last 3.
________________
To be more positive here, no teams has scored more goals than Liverpool in the PL this year with us scoring 74 goals in 2013. (Although I wonder how much of that is down to Suarez and Sturridge. We're struggling with goals from midfield.)
To go back to the "negatives", our defence needs to be worked on. We've let in 43 goals in the last 38 games. That's not good. Our defence is bringing us down this season. So I re-state AGAIN that we haven't replaced Steve Clarke since he's left us and we should of looked for a replacement in the summer window (was laughed at when I said this, saying it wasn't needed). Our main concern right now is defending set pieces. We're actually solid enough in open play. (That is if we play with 4 at the back and not 3.)
So if we stop changing the system which puts extra pressure on the MIDFIELD AND DEFENCE, and get a defensive coach in, we'll be up there. And by up there, I mean title challenging, none of this "top 4 trophy" crap. And we need some consistency in our defence. The amount of times someone comes into the team week in week out this season isn't good.

nice post ynwa
btw Everton's points gained ratio against top sides
I can see us improving in the stats against top sides this season but the away form improvement is questionable unless Gerrard, Suarez, Studge and Cou all play together consistently. BR has to find some formula to improve the away form in this season

Re: Results Comparison
That's because Everton doesn't have the Moyes mentality anymore.
Sadly, I think we're picking up the Moyes attitude of seeing them as "bonus" games on here.
We already had a formula that worked from last season. But he's changed the system in 4-5 occasions on the road thus far! That's why I've been pissed off at Rodgers this season. :S

Us, fans, on this forums seeing those games as bonuses has no f*cking correlation to how Brendan and the team views them. The most important thing is how they view it and I'm sure, as LFC tradition dictates, the team always goes on to play for a win.
