Not in general but Bale is worth as much as his goals and assists and he certainly wasn't "special" back then. Maybe you think one could see his potential back then? I'd agree with that.

The only reason Bale was relevant in 11/12 was because of his demolition on Maicon ffs. He was never that good. Again, at Walcott's level. He peaked under AVB, credit to him. He wasn't anything special before that. And by special, I mean one of the better players in the league. He showed potential, yes. But he wasn't there yet. Far too early to write off Townsend, he seems like he's the only one that's actually wanting Spurs to win at times.
