Mignolet is very underrated

Seriously as a shot stopper there aren't many better than him in the world. Pulls off some incredible saves on a consistent basis. His overall game is also very very solid. Mind you I'm not saying he's the best GK or anything just that his shot stopping ability is unbelievable. And I can tell you with a 100 percent certainty that if Reina was still our GK, we wouldn't be sitting joint top right now.

Underrated??? Hell no one of the most overrated players out there right now, Liverpool fans always overrated the very good players to the max they become overrated.

Same thing happened for Agger and Carragher etc.

Top goalie no doubt, but the amount of hype he gets is crazy. The amount of Liverpool fans raving about him like hes a prime Buffon is nuts.

In general sense, when in the living hell was Carragher even rated, let alone overrated? One of the most genuinely underappreciated players out there. Agger is overrated to an extent, I have no doubts about that.

Mignolet is perfectly rated as of now. He has been very impressive so far this season, so he deserves the praise he's getting.

Well, it is always nice to finally hear about a GK to be praised instead of all the strikers and midfielders!

I don't think he's overrated or underrated to be honest. If you take the amount of hyperbole from both sides and average it out I think he's rated about on par with his performances. He's certainly made some exemplary saves in his past few seasons and shown what he can do as a shot stopper, but there are also areas of his game that could use a good bit of work (his distribution) and he's come close a couple of times to dropping a howler... but then every keeper has those moments here and there.

He's a very good keeper (great shot-stopper) at a good age, but it's a bit of a stretch to say he's in the top tier currently.

Oh he's definitely overrated by a lot of Liverpool fans, both those I've seen on the internet and in real life. I mean McAgger, for example, said he was "arguably the best GK in Europe" only just a few days ago

Yeah, I'd like to see quotes to that statement.

Majority of the Liverpool fans raving about him put him as one of the better keepers in the league. Yes, better, not best.

Distribution is overrated imo. It was key to how we used to play in the first 6 months of the season under Rodgers, but I don't think it is anymore.

I'd rather him being a great shot stopper and a poor distributor than a solid shot stopper but very good with the ball at his feet.

And he's been very consistent for 2-3 years now. He's definitely a top tier keeper in the premier league for you Chelsea fans; hard to say in the world as he hasn't played in Europe.

I think he's perfectly rated at this point. Every time I'm on chat for a game people comment on how good he is, and he's considered near the top of the PL by most (which is where he is). He was underrated in the summer; no one really noticed the signing outside of Liverpool fans, but I don't think we can say that anymore.

Also, as a friendly reminder, everyone should keep in mind the fact that overrated/properly rated != bad, and underrated != prime buffon/top keeper in the world.

What blunder? Lukaku smacked the ball at 94mph AND Mignolet had a player in front of him. Surprised he even got a hand to it tbh

mignolet was incredible in the second half, but i dont think he is THAT underrated.. maybe a bit but there are lots of underrated keepers. keepers are definitely the most underrated position in the game.

He didn't clear or catch the free kick well, afterwards it took him ages to stand up again and let Mirallas to get the ball, chasing him Benny hill style, and leading afterwards to that goal.
